About a year ago I started dreaming of running 100 miles per week.  About 6 months ago I was willing to say it out loud.  This week, I finally hit that goal.  I am irrationally happy about it and had to share!

Well, that's just sick mileage. I am (rationally) impressed, and (equally rationally) have no desire to emulate that any time soon.

Though once you start rolling out the screaming fast run times in the coming months, perhaps the temptation will grow.

Congratulations and thanks for sharing, there's still hope for some of us.

tuwood - 2011-08-28 9:29 PM Oh yeah, and how many calories are you eating a day?  That's got to be tough to fuel that kind of volume.

Lots of people train that volume.  I'm just run focused.

To (not) answer your question, I have no idea.  I just eat what I feel like eating, and avoid junk food.

medamullet - 2011-08-28 9:00 PM congratulations! that is super impressive. Do you ahve a day job, girlfriend/wife/SO? How can you get that many miles with out eating and drinking miles for three meals a day?

Yes, I have a normal job and a family.  Apart from work, family, and training, I have no life.  (No TV, no movies, no video games, no reading magazines, etc.)  I'm a very boring person, but I'm pretty good at time-management.

Wow! Congrats!

I'm hoping to build to 50mpw in the off season for some shorter (HM/Mary/50k) trail races. Why not work up the ultra distance races? 50K, 50mi, 100K, 100mi?

Great job, Mike! I have a local buddy who is training for the New York Marathon and has been run only now this entire season., He's getting up into the 80's and will peak in the 90's. He's not sure if he is going to do any 100 mile weeks, though. He certainly has noticed that, shocker, running more makes running a lot easier as well.

Wow ! Great Job "EXP"!!  Very Impressive.

I would disagree with the part about having "no life" however.  TV, Movies Video games, and reading magazines, etc. do not = a life ! IMHO  Cool  A disciplined life is what you have !!

How do you manage to post on BT while running?  Hard enough to do on the bike trainer!

Good job.  I was excited by my first 25 mile week.... then a potential injury scared me back down.

I know you are very aware of injury risks from your other posts, so just stay safe, and keep it up as long as it is fun.

Lol.  I have actually done that from the trainer a couple of times!  Not sure how it would work while running -- maybe from the phone?  Hmm...

Oh great, now I've gone and given you the idea that will be your downfall.

Let's be careful out there!

Super impressive. Even more impressive that it's not just a peak week, but something you're looking to keep up.

So keep up the good work

Also very inspiring as I'll be building up to something comparable with swimming ... so there's some good hope.

Heh. I did say 'comparable' rather than 'same' or even 'similar,' but FWIW it's going to be on the order of 60mpw. So I'm only 60% crazy, you see.

60 meters per week. Now that's a swim plan I think I could handle.

But seriously -- good luck with that.  It's quite an impressive goal.  I hope you get there.

Very impressive volume.  I know that I will never even come close to that type of number - it really kind of boggles my mind.
