I'm trying to get in again after not being selected last year.  male from NY, so I think that hurts my chances given their "lottery" process.  For those of you looking for a great charity to represent and raise money for, I would recommend Tuesdayschildren.org  I just did NYC Tri for them.  They raise money and have special mentoring programs for children who lost a parent on 9/11.  Excellent charity, great people. Greater cause.  good luck all...hope to see you in san fran.

Thanks for posting this.  I just signed up.  Not sure if being a dude from Nebraska will help my chances at all.

I love how they say wetsuits are recommended.  I'd say that's an understatement in 55 degree water.

I think I will try my hand in the lottery again this year.  I'm in Florida these days though so no easy in for me.

But I am going to wait a few months to sign up for the lottery.  The first pull is in December, right?  Before I commit I do need to make sure I will be able to do the race if selected.  I'm moving next spring and I won't know where for another couple of months...

Edit: Nope, just read the site.  First pull is the end of the month.  Well, I guess I"m signing up!  I swear that is earlier than previous years...which bodes well, maybe people won't realize it!

MUCH earlier than previous years (I like this because at least we can plan our races earlier).  I don't like this because it means I've got to give $400 A LOT earlier if selected in the first round, lol!

Here are the deets: EFA Lottery Process

Indeed, Bradaskins, no need to worry about the angry, angry, bloodthirsty sharks when you can't see 'em until it's too late anyhow!

I am all signed up! How much attention do they pay to the races you put as proof you can finish? Two of mine are a full marathon and a trail ultra.

Honestly, I think very little to none for the lottery.  You don't even have to have ever done a race before.  Not sure why they ask that except for demographic information with regard to other races completed.  I can see why they ask about previous EFA participation.

They won't let you leave the previous race questions blank.  So I put in my first sprint info.

I know, but you can put "none" and still be entered in the lottery.  I know a couple athletes who did this as their first triathlons.  Two had not raced before.

I signed up for round two of Alcatraz.

The swim is worth the price of admission. I literally swam over two huge jellyfish in 09. Scared the bejeebus out of me.

Damn, I missed getting in the lottery.  I thought it open later.  I wanted to do this race again.  I signed up for the second round, but I'm assuming that's a long shot.  Oh well.

I better look into race accross the sky to make sure that doesn't close on me.

I entered the lottery at the beginning of the month but haven't received anything saying if I got in or not. Here's hoping for the second round!
