Sorry to interrupt your morning argument with the wife about where to eat lunch.  I know it's hard to keep your eyes on the road long enough to see the 200 lb guy with blinking lights all over him riding at the right edge of the lane.  Thanks for honking, I had no idea I was in the designated a$$holes lane.

end of rant

I live in the southwest part of Iowa, and usually if I hear a horn, it is because someone is honking and waving.  UPS drivers, school buses, etc....  I like small town area workouts.

Sorry to hear about you problem.

Sometimes, as a warning, people honk so as to let you know that they are behind you, (instead of sneaking up behind you and catching you off-guard), so, did they honk in short, staccato honks, or as a looooooooooooooong blaring honk, or in a "honk honk honk honk honk hooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooonk honk honk honk .... " interpreted as "Stupid biker get out of my way" honk?

Good point.  Short staccato burst so maybe they were trying to keep us both safe.  I do have a tendency to be overprotective of my body and assume everyone's out to get me.  Must be paranoid...

You're very wise to be over-protective like that.... would imagine biking is the most dangerous thing you do by a long shot. Actively involved in all traffic situations is what I like to be... and yes I still enjoy the heck out of cycling....dam it's fun.

You don't like to be honked at. Who does? Count your blessings - you made yourself visible and he saw you - doesn't have to turn out that way.

Yeah, I've reversed my opinion since it happened.  Either way I knew he was there, didn't get hit, got to keep riding.  All in all a good ride and I'm thankful for it.
