I pulled the trigger. Had a chance to do a relay in Augusta but it sold out the day I was registering the team. Now kind of looking forward to this challenge. Are you in?

I hope you're not in my age-group.  It would be a shame for you to go home empty-handed.

If you are in my a/g (and my wife doesn't go) you can hold my bike while I'm on the podium Laughing

High temp for the weekend is forecasted at around 80... What's Tugaloo's history on wetsuits on past years?

I think the Tugaloo race has been earlier in the past. Last year it was on Sept 11th.

Lake Russell which is downstream a bit is sitting at 74-76` F

Looks like the USGS station at Taccoa was stolen, so no data closer to Hartwell that I could find.

With the air temps being lower, I'll bet it's wetsuit legal this year.

That will be me turtling in transition.. I haven't used my wet suit since April/May.

and i would say that if we get rain as expected this week, as well as a few overnight lows in the low 50's, we have a good chance at a wetsuit legal swim

learn to swim and you do not have to wear a wet suit!  LOL  just joking...

Looking forward to my 5th Tug.  Love the race and I might actually show up healthy...might is the key word.  The temp is looking very nice.  Since Tug is later this year, the temps will be different past years especially the lake temp.  I do not think it was legal last year.

I'm in as a first timer at Tugaloo.  My first Olympic distance race as well.

I keep trying to reassure myself I'm ready for the swim.  I trained with PT at L Allatoona throughout the summer and have been doing the Friday evening swims recently at Mary Alice Park.

I have mixed emotions about wetsuit legal.  Sure it makes the swim easier, but I'm not really looking for easier.  Plus I tried out a wetsuit last Friday and it's a pain to get out of.  My race really starts on the bike anyway.

For whatever its worth, Tugaloo is also my first Oly tri, and I dont have a wesuit.  I just hope water aint too cold!!!  Dont really care about my swim split either, my race starts at the run!, lol!!

I do like the fact that it is a Time trail start instead of waves...

Since it is a time trial start, you will be fine.  there is very little brawling, if any.  So, you can just get into your pace and go.  Since you have spent time doing OWS swims, you are 100% ready to go.  If you are a decent swimmer, I would suggest not using the wetsuit if you have not worked on your T1 with it on.  If you get hung up getting it off, you will easily loose what time you thought you gained by wearing it.  It will not be cold enough to care as it is only 1500M.

I did my first time trial start in my last race and I wasn't a big fan of it.  I don't mind the washing machine.  I found it frustrating that I had no idea how I was doing compared to others on the course.  Even if I passed someone in my AG, they could still have been ahead of me on time.

Quick question about the bike portion.  This is my first Olympic Distance Tri. I've just done Sprints before.  I see on the bike map a water bottle stop about halfway through.  How does that work?  Do you give them your bottle ahead of time or is it just random bottles of water?   Thanks in advance for the help.
