Comments: Stuck with the 1:40 pacer for the first 5 miles, but just couldn't maintain the pace and dropped off on miles 6 and 7 to a little over 8 min/mile on both of those miles. I was a little bummed about not being able to stay with the pacer, but I was still out to get a PR (under 1:46)From mile 8 onward I went sub 8 again and managed to get it. It was tough mentally. There were many times I wanted to stop and walk. I never did, except for very briefly to drink gatorade from the small cups. The last 2 miles were a blur as I put my head down and pushed hard and kept my mind on positive thoughts. There was a lot of negative crap going on in my head and I had to be vigilant to stay positive. One very cool note is that I ran the first 10K faster than any standalone 10K race ever. My fastest was just under 50 min so I PR'd on my 10K by a couple minutes. What would you do differently?: Not sure. I believe I am capable of sub-1:40, but just not this race on this day. Post race

Woke up at 4am to eat some fruit and a doughnut with some water. Got dressed and grabbed all my gear.
Staying at The Grand Californian rocks. It was just a short 10 minute walk to the corrals.
Got into Corral A around 5:15 or so. Didn't have to wait around too long. Found the 1:40 pacer stood nearby until the start. Wish I could have warmed up more than that, but there's just no room for that at this venue.
