Pre-race routine:

This was my first race where I had to travel the night before. So I brought my bread and peanut butter for breakfast! One coffee, dressed and go!
Event warmup:

I did get in the water and swam a few meters. I was one of the few who did not use a wetsuit
Swim
  • 36m 40s
  • 1599 meters
  • 02m 17s / 100 meters
Comments:

The sun was glaring when returning to shore.
What would you do differently?:

I do have tinted goggles, maybe should have switched for this event
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

First time using bike shoes and clips in a race and I have only been practicing this for a week

Had borrowed neighbour's bike and was glad!
Bike
  • 1h 28m
  • 24.85 miles
  • 16.94 mile/hr
Comments:

This is my limiter for sure, and what I will work on over the winter. I did get some significant pains in the lower end of butt cheeks and I was suspecting some chafing the last 5km. I had to kind of self talk to myself that the pain did not hold a candle to childbirth!
What would you do differently?:

well lots ... lol
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

I did not worry about t time as my goal was to just finish this race. I was a little wobbling the first km for sure!
Run
  • 1h 16m
  • 6.21 miles
  • 12m 14s  min/mile
Comments:

I was surprised I did not do a little better on the run. I can run 10km in 1:05 but the extra 10 minutes can be attributed to fatigue.
Loop running is weird... got in with the tri a tri group at the end which likely helped me pick up my pace a bit.
What would you do differently?:

more bricks next year. the other peice is I had never done a brick after using bike shoes... felt different for sure
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

I need to lose weight lol

Event comments:

There could have been more volunteers on bike course and run course at corners..... I was a little nervous about staying on track.
