Subject: Tri tops..can you recommend one?
I am looking for a tri top that is not form fitting.  I would like a slightly relaxed fit.  Can you make a recommendation? Thanks!

Tri tops are supposed to be form fitting. It's supposed to be sausage casing so it's not a parachute during the swim and so you don't end up with bloody nipples on long runs.

Look at tech shirts, heat gear by Underarmour is one such that comes in relaxed fit.

I recommend the ones I'm selling in the classifieds section.

You could just buy a tri top that is one size larger than you need so it isn't form fitting but still has the water/sweat wicking ability.

form fitting is good.. you will probably swim in it during a race.. don't need extra drag..

check out de soto.. most tri tops ive bought tend to ride up.. the de-soto top has great length.. it didn't look like a halter top when crossing the finishline.

I agree you don't want a top that's really loose.  I believe DeSoto makes something that they call a "loose" jersey.  I haven't tried it, don't own it, can't speak to how loose it is, but it might be something to consider.  I would not want to swim in a loose top, but maybe you could swim without it (not sure your gender) and put it on in T1.

I too like a little bit of room in a Tri top. I can't stand the sausage casing feel of most Tri tops. I have an AEVERO Tri top and I'm still really bummed they went out of business late last year. I've yet to find anything similar to AEVERO clothing.

I prefer the tight ones, but if you are wearing a wetsuit for the swim, it doesn't matter so much.  I have a Pearl Izumi that I wear for just for training runs/rides since it is not form fitting (I wear L, and it is not tight like Zoot and the rest).  You may want to give PI a try.

louis garneau makes one with a slightly larger cut thats actually very slimming on and not overly loose. I would start there.

I have one from K Swiss that fits nice. It's cut to the body but not snug.

Why would you want a loose fitting tri top? Might as well wear a T-shirt.

Depends on the model/line.

I got a Pearl Izumi Select Tri Jersey for my first season, and agree with the others here that the relaxed fit is not desirable for swimming. I did wind up getting a TYR that is more swimmable. I like PI in general, and this is a perfectly good cycling jersey.

If you really want one, you might be able to pick one up cheap - I believe this top has been discontinued for exactly the reason people are talking about here. The balloon/parachute effect does not help you in the water.

I normally would like to have a tight Tri top but I have discovered from a bunch and trial and errors that I can't seem to swim with the compression top and then the compression of the wetsuit. I seem to have breathing problems when I pair the two together.  So I've been wearing a looser tri top to solve my problem.  I was looking at the De Soto ones since they tend to be a little longer.  The one I have right now is a Pearl Izumi but would like a little change.  It looks like I have been doing the same Tri for the past two years

I guess I wasn't too clear.  I will be swimming topless, and I am a male.  Just looking for a tri top that isnt all that tight.  I guess the recommendations about buying one a size bigger would be the best way to go. Thanks!

Keep your runs to about 7-10 miles max, unless you like band-aids on your nipples, then.
