Best of luck to all of you racing this weekend.  Wish my schedule allowed me to join you.  Look forward to reading the race reports.

Okay... Meredith and I took a drive down to pick up my packet and check out the courses.

Swim:

In a nice, protected bay. The buoys weren't out so I didn't see the exact course but someone told me we start at the left side of the beach then swim to the right. Once we hit the beach, we have to climb a set of stairs and run up a short, grassy hill to the T-Area.

Bike:

Fairly flat course with only a couple short climbs. There are A LOT of turns, some sharp. They did a nice job marking obstructions (man-hole covers, sewers, ...). They could have done a better job putting some arrows on the LONG straights. After a while I'd feel like, "Man, did we miss a turn?" So, if you don't see an arrow, obviously, don't turn. There are no hills long enough to tire you out so stand and HAMMER 'em!

Some details of the bike:
- Loose gravel at .1 miles (Hopefully someone will clean that up in the morning)
- Small climb at .25 miles
- Small climb at 2 miles
- RR Track crossing (not that bad though) at 3 miles
- Short climb at 3 miles

- 13.25 miles total

Run:

Beautiful course! Pretty flat as well. There is a .1 mile hill at .5 miles and a sort/steep hill at 1.9. 3.8 total miles for the run. I will tell you his about the run: we were damn near getting dizzy with all the turns and crossing arrows.

Sounds good. I have the "tent" in the car and a cooler with a bunch of water, some SoBe green teas, and Fig Newtons. Not much, I know, so anything you bring will be a treat I'm sure!

See you in the morning!

BTW:
I read on the site that we have to call out our number to the timer when we exit the water. So, in addition to writing BT on my calf, I'm going to writ my number on the palm of my hand! Just a suggestion--unless they figured out the timing.

Glen, Max, Mark, Kathy, Joanne, (and significant others)

Just want to say, "Thanks for a wonderful time at Hammerfest!" It was great to see all of you--Mark, it had been a while since we did a race, and I am so happy that the rest of you made the trip from MA.

It turned out to be a beautiful morning for the race, even if the swim was a bit rough on the way out , and I'm glad I got to share my last Tri of the season with some fantastic friends! I'm really lookin’ forward to hooking up and getting some fall/winter team training in.

CONGRATS again to Joanne for her 1st place finish!

And, I have to send a big WOO HOO out to Kathy for her awesome high-fivin' finish. I really hope Glen got that pic!

Thanks again folks… You rock!

Rob

BTW:
I also have to say, "Thanks!" to Ron. If it weren't for you, I never would have met these fine people--or the other BTers I have befriend for that matter. So, thanks for a great site, Ron!

Woo Hoo! Way to go Joanne! Dang, she's gonna have more medals than you can shake a stick at! Sure glad I'm not competing against her in that age group!! And it was fun watching Kathy finish too. You all looked good out there. Heh! And thanks to a flat tire on his part, I was able to finish ahead of Glen, something I'm not used to doing! Bad luck there buddy, but it was still a fun day!!

I had a blast too. I haven't gone to the website to check out my times yet, and I'll get a race report up as soon as I can. See you guys in Hartford in a couple weeks!
