Subject: Fall Final

Anyone doing the Fall Final up at Kerns?  It will be my first for the season.   I will be training through the winter and doing a lot more next year, but I digress.

Hope to see some folks there.

I have to say that I drove the bike course last night and I had no idea that there would be such a climb west of the valley.  Nice downhill sections, but first probably 4 miles is uphill.

Careful of the railroad tracks on 4100.  John has bit it on those tracks more than once.  The first time he had compression fracture on the humerous.  Second time I think finished off his knee for surgery this last spring. 

Just remember (if there are no mats) to swing out to the right to hit them perpendicularly.

I saw those.  They really scar me.  If anything I will slow way down and swing wide.  Thanks for the reminder.  Maybe I will try the Bunny Hop method.  I should probably try first.

Yeah, Mike, I would hop off that bike before I tried to bunny hop the tracks. It's just not worth the risk. Imagine being sidelined again.

Swing out and keep your tire straight and you'll be fine.  I've gone over those tracks many times and never crashed... just John (and about 3 people the first year they had the  race and the mats disappeared overnight).  If you want to go for a ride out there, let me know, I'd be happy to join you.

Sweet!  We should plan a time in the next couple weeks.  I think I have another long ride on Monday, but traffic worries me.

Yup just a few days and I got sick on Friday. I missed my last two big workouts that should have happened. And I am still fighting the stuffy nose.  I will have to do something tonight for sure, but really light.  Maybe transition practice.
