Subject: Road bike head light and rear lights in SoCal?

Hello everyone!

I need to purchase front and rear lights for night and early morning training rides in the Los Angeles (near Hollywood), Burbank, and Glendale area.  There are so many choices out there and I want to be seen and see the road as well.  What do you guys recommend?  I can spend up to $100 on a set. =)

Are these overkill for the area I'm training in?

Front:  Cygolite Expilion 250 USB Li-Ion One-Piece design High-Brightness LED

Rear:  Portland Design Works Radbot 1000 1W LED

Thanks!

Roland

I have a set from Planet Bike which includes a 1 watt headlight and a Superflash rear.  I think the set is around $60.  You can buy the Superflash separately and I would definately use it even if I got another headlight.

Here is the set that I use:  http://ecom1.planetbike.com/3047.html

On the back I use the Planet Bike Superflash.  It's very bright and the batteries last forever.

For the front I just picked up a Cateye HL-EL 320. It's bright and useful if you only need to be seen but it's just alright for actually lighting up the road.
