Comments: I had not planned on doing this race, but circumstances worked out, so why not run? I felt good and had a good pace going. I was at 8:25 at first mile so I was pleased with that. Then when I got the little downhill in front of my house at about 2.2 miles, I decided to take advantage of the hill for free speed. I picked up my pace by lengthening stride and then OUCH! My hamstring started to hurt - I think I pulled it. So I slowed down and shortened stride. Pushed through it to the finish. My time suffered a bit, but overall I am still happy. What would you do differently?: Not hurt my hammie.  Post race
Warm down: greet husband (he won his age cat!) and watch daughter walk/run to the finish. Event comments: A great small race! Lots of donated goodies. Bubby, daughter and I participated for $45 total, and came home with three t-shirts, two age cat medals, $40 worth of gift certificates and a half-pound of coffee. Pretty good haul! Son's soccer team had a pancake breakfast on this morning, so we went to that first and loaded up on pancakes, coffee and OJ. Then got home, changed, and jogged to the HS to register for this race.
My jog to the school was my event warm-up
