Great to meet you this morning. Much to my surprise, it was 50%-75% through the swim that really had me wondering if I could make it (never worn a full wetsuit in that warm of water... not good for the claustrophobes!)

Otherwise, it was my first bike ride without a singe bail! Yay!

The run was more of a trail run than I'd prepared for (haven't done trail running since my fibular sfx in Sept 2010, which was followed by a femoral nexk sfx in May of this year, so... yeah... tough with the trail run.

How was your day?!

congrats on your race.

I had one this morning too.  It was cold and raining through the whole race, but it was still fun.

Great to meet you as well! Congrats on not baling!

I was in the same boat.....i didnt think i'd make it even before the first bouy. I think i went out too fast. I thought for sure I was DFL in my age group comng out of the water. I was informed later that I was not. I was hoping for encouragement from my family and friends only to hear as I emurge from the water (with no one around me so no one confuses who this comment is directed at) "PACE!! DROP THE ANCHOR!!!

I then proceeded to only pass one guy the entire time on the bike (while being passed by many) much to my surprise i finished the bike in 1:06 (had my daughter timing all my splits)

as for the run, I didint train ANY trails....nor did I train enough over all...lol anyway felt good to finish my overall time was 2:16:05. How was your time?

and yes Congrats on becoming a trithlete!!!!!!!!!!

@tuwood- Way to hang in there, glad you had a blast!

@triforce- Considering there were more than a few people following our "first tri" adventures, this was as much a post to let those folks know I didn't bail as it was to see how Jeff did.

@Pace13- I don't know my overall time (have they come out with the official times yet?) I think I was right at 2 hours, but not sure. I know my bike (turned Garmin on and off in transition) was 1:06 and my run was about 37 minutes (again, Garmin turned on just after heading out on the course and turned off after I'd already said hello to my doggie after the finishline.)

I am most curious to see how long those splits minus the total time put me in the water.  Man, it felt like forever. And I really thought swim was going to be a strongpoint. I think I came out firmly MOP, but, then again, the women 30+ wave was twice the size of any other wave.

Seriously need to take my bike in for a check-up, though-- I was almost a DNS because nobody could get it to shift down into the smallest chainring for the uphill start, so I had to find someone to manually place it there, and then I was told to not shift in the chainring at all, lest I not be able to get back down and bail on that hill near the end of the loop, so I know I wasn't as efficient as I could have been on those flat-and-straight areas.

Much to learn/tweak/train!

I saw mine on the printout they had sitting on the table next to the announcer guy. it wasnt up right away but was during the raffle (which I didnt win anything ). I was 306th overall.

We had the same bike! but you beat me by 10 minutes on the run. I get good samaratin points for stopping to help the lady I was running with when she fell.

I'm sure you swam faster than me which means you beat me overall, congrats on the tri-newb championship.

sooo much to improve on yes. I cant wait for the next one!

Yes, I was not expecting a trail run AT ALL. Guess I should have done some research on that part.  My headlamp came in superhandy, though, so thanks for the tip on that!

I need to do one of those! My favorite part= "Cap Removal: Good." I think I am going to say "Great" on mine, just to be a one-upper and, as I recall, I was pretty awesome at that part.

oh YAY! a one-upper contest!

I'm changing mine to say "wore swim cap the entire race to save time in transition" and I'll strategically color it the same as my hair so no one notices.

see you at the next event!
