I'm glad you're feeling better! You're training won't go to waste, but it's frustrating to not get to race today. You will get to do some stuff in your duathlon. Maybe you can do a long bike ride that same weekend for the same effect?
I work in an ER, so unfortunately for some, I have inflicted the same discomfort
(my spinal taps are usually painless, though!
)
Headaches can be lots of things, migraine, cluster, tension, occipital neuralgia, anuerism, meningitis
(including pneumococcal, meningiococcal, west nile, lyme
), encephalitis, etc, etc, etc. Most of these are just a pain in the but, but some of them are deadly.
TH3_FRB: It's not aggressive it treatmenf the doctor has a suspicion that there could be a "sentinal bleed" or an aneurism causing a headache...any headache serious enough to bring someone to the ER is a SERIOUS headache and needs to be 'worked up' aggressively.
Wookie: It's nice to hear that the performance of my job "gets old" for the patients.
How do you think I feel performing a dozen neurologic exams a day, that gets old, too.
Again, Glad you'll soon be on the mend and have plans to do a duathlon soon!
