Swim
Comments: Violent swim; started in middle of the pack and ran up against slower swimmers and got sandwiched for the first 150+ yards What would you do differently?: Start and stay on the outside. Sacrifice added distance for clear lane Transition 1
Comments: Plan failed--opted to add HR chest strap and BRT shirt at T1. Struggle securing strap and geting shirt on--wasted close to 60 seconds What would you do differently?: Start race with HR monitor and shirt/ top ON Bike
Comments: Very crowded since our wave started last--lots of passing; wind at our back on the way out, so 24+ not unusual; headed back into the wind and dropped closer to 21-22 What would you do differently?: Be stronger Transition 2
Comments: Need to be out of shoes coming off bike What would you do differently?: End ride out of, or in unstrapped, shoes; maybe no socks Run
Comments: Ran according to plan What would you do differently?: Myabe wear a hat. Post race
Warm down: .25 - .5 walk; forgot to stretch What limited your ability to perform faster: Crowds in all 3 legs broke cadence Event comments: Great venue, well-marked course, enthusiastic and helpful volunteers. Extremely scenic, enjoyable and relaxing location. Wave starts were broken-down unevenly and planned poorly--the fastest groups started last and ended up over-taking the others in the swim and bike creating unsafe congestion (water and cycling). The most violent swim I've done this year (4 other events) due to crowding and slower swimmers in earlier groups. Last updated: 2011-06-03 12:00 AM
