Don't use it - it takes up too much room.

I am also just not happy with the entire configuration. With or without yellow poofy thing, I (and my bike) get covered with splashes of Infinit...even when the opening is covered with Saran Wrap. I do live in the boonies on rather pot-holey roads...but the amount of splashage is out of control. I'm going back to the bottle cage zip-tied between my aero bars.

If you turn it sideways inside of your aero bottle (instead of using it vertically with some sticking out of the top) it works much better for splash prevention. And like someone else said above, unravel it a little to spread it out inside the bottle.

Obviously for an open bottle with no cap you are going to get splashed-- let's not expect it to work magic here Tongue out

Never used the yellow thing.  I had the top with the wedge cut rubber cap.  That splashed everywhere, so I went out and bought some of that foam placemat stuff from Hobby Lobby and glued it inside the cap opening, no more splashing!!  I hold the lid down with a large rubberband, and I can't fill it on the fly, but I'm okay with that.

Like someone else said, a little piece of saran wrap over the top does wonders.

It is easy to poke a hole through to refill during a race, or take off an replace after a refill during a training ride.

The loofah part is good for scrubbing dead bugs and debris off your legs.

I use it. I just stuff it in the top of the bottle with a little less then half of it still sticking out. I get home and then I wash it when I wash the bottle.

Never had a problem.

Don't use it but I just use electrical tap to make the lid solid.  If I need a refill I remove the whole thing.  I still typically only put water in them though as there still is some spillage.  I put the calorie drinks in bottles.

I was like a camel on my half with two bottles and a full aero, but I didn't have to stop.  I know I'm no weight weinie, but there's a lot more fat around my waist than water weight in the extra bottles!  If I was fighting for seconds I wouldn't go that route.

No- I switched to a differnt brand of handlebar mount hydration system that doesn't rely on a sponge thingy. It works much better.

I wash the whole thing in dishwasher. I put main part on bottom shelf, straws in silverware part, yellow thing on top shelf.

I often loose the black part that goes over the hole that is sliced in 6...I bought some of the same stuff at a craft shop and I make spares.

TorHans?

I ordered one from your shop but it didn't come in time to try for the IM AB this weekend

The shower pouff is the way to go. It's denser than the yellow netting, the fabric loop loops over the straw & keeps it from sinking into the bottle, and you just put it in the dishwasher to degerm it.

used it constantly, worked much better than the cap.
I found the cap closed the nipple of most cheap/free water bottles when you try to shove them into the top to fill on the go.

I did just loose it at IMWI though, trust me, it really works compared to having nothing in there, especially on a bumpy as hell course like that!

Am I the only one that finds the random splash every once in a while refreshing? PD should call it their thigh cooling feature.

used it to scrub pots - never used it in the bottle - just the black rubber thing - which I had to replace when it went through the dishwasher and shrank oops.

However I most recently used the specialized bottle with the cover and like it better due to the flexibility of the straw.  I may just mount a regular bottle between my aerobars.....have not yet decided.

PinkPrincess - 2011-09-23 9:31 AM Nope, never used it. What works for me with the bumpy roads here is putting a layer of Saran Wrap between the lid and bottle. It's pretty easy to "punch" through it when refilling with a bike bottle. Keeps me from getting Gatorade all over myself.

Thank you for the great idea with Saran Wrap. The yellow pouf is pointless IMO.

Americanfatass - 2011-09-23 10:38 AM So, can we put 'em in the dishwasher or not ?  WHY not ?
Yes. But do NOT put the rubber disk from the cap into the dishwasher. It will shrink and never fit right again. I believe there are two types of aerobottles being talked about here. The really older ones did not have the rubber cap over top of the yellow scrunchie. The more current ones have a plastic cap with a rubber disk in it that's slitted to be able to refill the bottle through the cap. I use saran wrap over the top, under the cap, but pull it off when I start the bike. That's how I keep it from sloshing around in my backpack carrying it to transition.

x2  Found out the hard way.

Yes- TorHans.

I e-mailed this entire thread to them. They are loving it. 3 pages of how to make their "competitor's" product work when it doesn't really work all that well out of the box.

This is the stuff ad campaigns can't buy... LaughingSmileWinkMoney mouth

Here is a leak/shake test on another handlebar drink system I like better than Profile:

Almost no water is expelled even under violent shaking- much more than you would have on a bike except in a crash. Notice the only water leaving the bottle is the contents of the straw as the bottle descends violently.

Dropped full from 6 feet on a stepladder this was the leakage from this unit 30 seconds after impact:

And below is a look at their anti-slosh/anti spill baffle system that is still on-the-go fillable:

I'd used Saran Wrap only for a few months but the liquid would still slosh out the straw hole and pepper me w/Gatorade (well until was 2/3 full). With the yellow scrunchie thing, I've been dry even without the added wrap.

I tried it once and rinsed it off.  Then a week later I opened the bottle and it smelled like a dirty pair of underwear.  So, I chucked it and have never used it since.  I only use water in my aero bottle, so I don't mind if it leaks a little on bumps.  Kind of feels good to get a little splash now and again.

Just a note on the yellow thing stealing all your water space. It is almost negligible. I just tested. Visually the same height after insertion

^^^^This.  Once I spread it over the edge (just a little) then I close the lid so it stays secure.  I don't have any real splash issues except when I refill I tend to get some drink mix that misses a bit.

As to the bacteria question - do you people not wash your bottles????  When I get home I fill the bottle with dish soap, stick the yellow thingy inside to soak for a couple of minutes, then wash and dry.  Not sure what the issue is on this one.

This is how I do it and have very few issues with splashing.

I was offered one of those bottles for free, hated the splashing.

I instead bought the Aero HC profile design bottle, and it was excellent on my ironman 3 weeks ago!!!

The fliptop was easy to open, and no splashing, and it fit between my arms really well.

I didn't buy their mount, instead I just zip tied my own bottle cage in and figured out a computer mount using pvc and zip ties behind it and saved myself 50 bucks.
