Good morning all!  Beautiful Saturday morning here in the desert!

Off day for me but going out with the family to find and haul flatrock at a super secret place in the desert mountains.

Cross country meet yesterday was awesome/bummer. My best runner won the meet with a 40 second lead over the 2nd place finisher, but turned out of the water hazard at the wrong place (he actually ran farther in the water than he had to) so they DNF'd him..grrr.  It is what it is but I was even more angry when the race director commented that it had happened to the lead runner last year, too.  Well, ummm...doesn't that mean your course isn't well marked if it's not clear to the lead runner where to go.  In my book, my runner still won.  My freshman medaled again in 3rd--he is three for three!!!

Have a fabulous day and good luck racers!

Today is my best little training partner's 5th birthday!  To celebrate, we're heading to the Y so I can swim 4000 yards.  OK, well, he gets to swim too for fun, then we're going out for his birthday party at the bowling alley.  Hmmm...maybe I'll need to add that to my training log under "sports".

Ran the Chamber Chase 5K this morning here in the Sault, managed a 13.01 mi pace. I was aiming for a 13 min/mi so I am happy. Most of the fast runners in my ag were running the Bridge Run (6.6mi) or the half marathon so my time was good for an AG 1st. My first podium in I don't know how long, I run with too many former college cc runners.

13 mile run followed by 2300 yd swim; it's still hot and humid in Florida, so it felt great to get in the pool!

18 mile run @8:20 pace this morning in 100% humidity. Decent run considering both weather and last's Sunday's HM. I love marathon season, all the happy runners on the trails wearing fuel belts and sucking down gels

Very, very short easy bike ride and run today. Also going to a couple more T1 and T2 transitions to prep for ky first Tri tomorrow. Dropping off the bike (freaky giving up my new bike to sit out for the night...hope it does not get lonely) and picking up my packet today. What is that old song, "i'm so excited, I just cann't hide it!!".

First short race in years - 5K.  Got 2nd in AG with a 22:16.  I had a lot left in the tank, but after training for long races for so long and not a lot of speedwork under my belt, I wasn't sure how to run it (conservative until final 100 m., go ballz-to-the-wall and hang on, etc.).

100 percent rest day for me. My 10 year old had two soccer games this morning, which were a lot of fun (lost both of them). I just woke up from my nap, and I plan on doing nothing else the rest of the day. I'll be up in the morning early (for me) for my first half marathon. I am super excited!

Congrats on the XC race!  Nasty, brutal stuff here. 72 minute run with fartlek pickups @ race pace. Kind of complicated but it involves running 4-5 miles hard.  Then 3000m swim workout PM. Definite "What the....?" protest from body on the latter--haven't done this duo in several weeks owing to illness, taper, race, and recovery. Not ideal having to do two long, hard workouts in the same day, but that is just when the venues are available, so not much choice. Nap in between!
