So Nate, I have a question.

After using this last night for another work out...  I had to put it on paper and follow along in free ride. Not too difficult. But I was wondering how hard it would be to give the option to use "power" or use "percentage". Seem most workout are given in % so everyone can do it.. then I have to convert to what power out put that is for me... It would be great if we could just switch between power or percent and then just do the workout off a percentage scale.

My replacement Fluid 2 finally arrived, so I'm getting things set up finally.

For the Sufferfest workouts, I'm instructed to drop it into the workouts when it's in "Sufferfest Mode". I'm not seeing where to get it into Sufferfest Mode. When I try to drop the workouts into the workout window, it won't accept.

I must be missing something?

Do you have the latest version? If you open up the sufferfest workout in the desktop app (www.trainerroad.com/install) you should see a an area to drop the video.

If you're still having problems drop me an e-mail at [email protected] and I'll create some screen shots showing you how it works.

Are you in the workout for the actual video you have? Launch TR on your computer, search for the sufferfest video you have (i.e. A Very Dark Place) and click "open." It should come up with "Drop A Very Dark Place here!"

Nate ... I'll send you an e-mail along with a screen shot of what I'm seeing.

Troy,

Did you open one of the Sufferfest workouts?  In TrainerRoad open the workout "A Very Dark Place" first.  If you don't see the place to drop the video at the top of the workout there will be 3 modes.  Vertical, Horizontal, and Sufferfest.  If you do not see Sufferfest then you are probably in the wrong workout.

Good luck.... not with getting it to work, but with surviving the workout.

Yeah ... not seeing the modes available. I'm playing around with this at work, in anticipation of getting it all synched up tonight. So I don't have my ANT in ... wondering if that's making a difference.

It shouldn't, I'm at work, no ant stick here either. Looks like this:

Ok I'm going to guess since this is your first time using it that you haven't opened the workout yet.

It is one of the quirkiest parts of the application.  From the list of workouts on the left side of the above screen shot move your mouse over the graph.  The graph will then get the word "open" in it.  click the graph and the workout will open.

Okay ... just got my e-mail back from support. I wasn't actually clicking on the thumbnail and evidently never hovered over it to see the "open". All set now.

Thanks!

FYI - I'll be offering some plans through TrainerRoad. Those will be very specific if you want to improve specific areas of your cycling fitness such as your power at VO2max or 20 min power or Critical Power or... The 20 min power one (6 weeks) is already available. Just another reason to use their very cool interface.

We're going to have that when we do some group online workouts, so it's coming.

Yah, that part has gone back and forth. We used to just have it so you could click anywhere in the workout and it would open.

But that got annoying if you just wanted to look at workouts.

Then I went back to the open, and had a "Open workout" button too. But I didn't like how that looked.

*sigh* I need to revist that to make it more clear.

Sweet, that will make it much easier to just hop on and bang out a workout.

EDIT... although will that just be for group workouts or for anything?

Nate,

I just wanted to say thanks to you for the great support you are providing to people via this forum.  I have been using your software for the past two weeks and it's been great so far.  Hopefully it will help get me through my first triathlon ever, which will be the Mont-Tremblant 70.3 in June.  :-)

I use TrainerRoad with my Garmin ANT+ stick, Bontrager DuoTrap speed/cadence sensor and my CycleOps Super Magneto Pro trainer.  I watch Netflix on the laptop and display TrainerRoad on an external monitor.  It takes the boredom out of riding on the trainer.

And another WOW for having a 70.3 as your first tri. You're going to love it!

Nate, just wanted to say what a great product you guys have come up with. I sent a question through to spport the other day and Reid replied the same day. Can't ask for more than that.

I don't like saying it but I actually look forward to the trainer sessions now. Now to build my FTP so I can give the sufferfest videos a shot.

Hello ...

I used part of the Fight Club workout to test everything two days ago after finally getting things all set up. I rode for 35 minutes of the workout and all seemed to work just fine.

Just now, I had hoped to take the 20 minute test, but my power is not registering. When I open the workout, my power is listed at 10 and then just stays there when I start pedaling. It doesn't move from 10 ... I proceeded through about 3 minutes of the warm up, was watching the instructions and the explanations. Saw my cadence change ... saw my heart rate change ... and saw the target power increase, but my registered power just stays at 10.

I opened another workout just to see what was going on, at my power was also listed at 10 right from the start.

I'm riding a CycleOps Fluid 2.

Any thoughts?

Troy

What is the power source listed in the devices section?  I had the same issue when I installed and just had to change that to my trainer.  I think the default is power meter.

I've got it listed as the CycleOps Fluid 2. Everything seems to be set right ... and my workout from two days ago worked fine ... and is still listed. Thinking about doing a re-download.

I had this happen last night as well - got off the bike and checked all of the computer settings, reopened the workout, etc.  Nothing worked.  (The cadence reading worked but the power did not.)  Then I thought to look at my bike...

It ended up being that my spoke sensor on my bike had been rotated out of its position somehow.

Check your bike sensor  Sorry if that does not help - just thought I'd share.

Am also pleased and excited with TrainerRoad - thanks for a great and affordable program!

Nate,

Just from this thread and my own experience the majority of your issues are with setting up the Speed/Cadence sensor correctly.  Those magnets positions are notoriously unstable, and I've lost a few of them without knowing it in the past.

Maybe you could add a few analysis checks in the code.

Some messages like "Speed detected but no cadence - check pedal magnet"  or "Cadence detected but no speed check wheel magnet" or "power spikes, please move your wheel magnet farther away from the indicator"  If you don't want to put it in the main code you could have a diagnostics section?

Just one more thing, but it might save you a lot of emails.
