I am a new comer to the site and the sport.  i haven't competed in a tri in 16 years, and only did the bike portion.  Also have not done any competitave swimming or running just the bike. And that was all done when i was a teen.

Looking for help insperation and incuragement from any one out there.  Wife doesn't understand my need to do this sport so little help and support there.  She will let me run and bike if it doesn't interfear with her plans.

Can use any and all support from the site I can get.

Hey Blaser, welcome to BT and triathlon

Lots of folks here have worked out family/sport balance, and you will too. Time management is of the essence so you can get your training in and also your wife will feel attended to.

Definitely try to get some swim lessons or coaching. Check out your local YMCA (Are you in the U.S.?) or U.S. Masters Swimming group/contact for recommendations.

Welcome!  I am in the Taylorsville area!  Welcome to the club!  Feel free to search the forums and PM me anytime.  I have a tri on the 8th of October so I am at the end of my training. A great way to get involved is to Volunteer.  Maybe you wife will catch the bug like mine has.

Another Utahn here.  In WVC.  Welcome aboard.  The trick is to get your wife to a race.  Only took my hubby coming out to one or two and he started    It's highly addictive.
If you're in the SLC area and looking for groups to train with, check Facebook and ask to join the Desert Sharks FB group.  That's where all our group workouts for the local area get posted now.

and Mike, it's great to see you're back in action now too
