Comments:

So, I'm pissed. Plan to make today's run a PR effort. Should have been too.

Not quite sure what happened. Either the course was not marked right, or the volunteers screwed up, but it seems like at the start, the lead runners turned before they should have. I never saw a 1 mile sign, but when my Garmin beeped at the 1 mile I was at 10:04. That included a pretty nice hill so I knew I was on track.

At the 2 mile sign, I looked at my Garmin and the time was 16 something. I knew something was wrong. As good as I felt, I knew I was not running 8's. Looked at the distance and saw 1.65. WTF?

Turned back to run down the hill that we ran up before mile 1 and figured they would take us out farther and then back to the finish but nope, we turned and headed for the end. 2.76. I was pissed and really still am.

What would you do differently?:

Not play follow the leader and do the whole course
Post race
Warm down:

Tried not to be pissed and waited for mom to get her 2nd in AG award

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I was doing great and on my way to a PR

Event comments:

It is the job of the RD to ensure that the course is marked and that there are volunteers in place to direct the runners. These lead guys running a sub-18 pace are not going to pay attention if there is nobody telling them where to go. Basically, they went and it was 1200 people playing follow the leader.

So, no PR for me. Maybe I will take Haley's advice and look for one tomorrow.
