Event warmup:

10 min run with a very short swim. Didnt get to swim warm up as much as I would have liked to.
Swim
  • 32m 11s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 58s / 100 yards
Comments:

Just cant get through a swim with out back issues. Hit me about the 25 min mark. Not as bad as the other races but still enough to slow me down. Maybe only lost 2 minutes this time. Considering I have swam about an hour a week for the past 8 weeks I cant say it was too bad.
Transition 1

Comments:

About a 200 yard run to T1 uphill. But you would think I made a sandwich and some cool aid with this time in T1. Took some time to get the suit off with the back issue and tried to stretch it out. Did not have bike shoes clipped in on this one. Way too much uphill to start the bike and just went a little safer easier.
Bike
  • 1h 25m 39s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 17.41 mile/hr
Comments:

The goal was to hang the HR around 170-172. From the start the legs were just dead. They felt like they were trying to push 220 watts when I am pretty sure I was only doing about 160-170 watts. HR was 170 and they were burning like I was hammering it.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe not do an alititude study and running 15 mi up and down a mountain in CO the weekend before.
Transition 2

Run
  • 1h 02m 30s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 10m 04s  min/mile
Comments:

A few hills on this course and a good one to start it off with. For as bad as my legs felt I think this was a good run. It was my fastest 10k and it was on tired legs.

Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

I think the CO trip the weekend before took more out of my legs than I thought it did. This was the first race where my cardio wasnt my limiter, it was tired legs. I still PR'ed by a little and felt like I had a horrible race.

Event comments:

Really like the race and look forward to coming back next year. I know my training this year was pretty good. All my trainging run times and bike power were way better I just wasnt able to bring them both together this weekend.

I thought I was the only one that PR'd a race and still thought it was "horrible".  It looks pretty solid to me and always good to run your fastest 10k at the end of an oly.  I like your plans for the next few months.  It sounds like you have plans to have a great tri season next year.  Hopefully we can finally get together some time in the "off" season.
