I found my Christmas present. My 205 died and I was planning to get the 310, but this is much cooler.

My 310 is about 2 years old. Hmmm, is that old enough to trade in for the 910?

I spoke with a Garmin rep yesterday about another issue and he said the 910 was really cool and he liked it a lot.  However, he did say he didn't like the geometry of the watch.  He said its still quite bulky and he doesn't like how boxy it is.  He also said that preorders should be filled around in mid to late November.

is it worth the 450$ for the swim features or go with the 310xt which may be around 300 with rebate?

Perfect!  I'm 88 days away from getting back to the US and "cashing in" on all tri-IOUs I have from the past few years.

Question:  for those of you who use power, will you use this as your computer or do you use something else?

I have a 705 for my bike and there's no way I would use that small screen on the 905 for my bike.  I plan on getting one, but will only use it for running.  Any info on battery life?

From what I have read, battery life is the same as the 310xt or 20 hours.

What are the new swim features on the 910? I was about to buy a 310 this week...If you don't care about the small cost difference and prefer the orange color which would you get?For reference I,m a beginner. One tri on the books, more to come!

Heart Rate Monitors USA is doing a 10% off sale. Use code OCT10 to get the discount.

They have the 910 available for pre-order...

The 310 has very little in value for pool swimming.  It is basically a timer, and if you want to press the lap button every time it can count laps for you.

The 910 will remove the need (or really desire) for a dedicated pool watch.

The other features such as the run walk feature are nice as well.

For a full list of features see DC Rainmakers site.

Good luck.

I was reading through the threads thinking "this will be a nice upgrade from my 305, I'll pick one up next year".

Then I saw your post!

So now I have one on pre-order

For me I can not justify spending money to get one over the 310XT that I have used for the last few years. Getting distance data on OWS would be nice but even that is listed as a con on dcrainmakers site since it is still not accurate. Slimmer profile would be nice to but it is not like I notice how fat the 310XT is on my arm. Color is a lot better though.

I believe the firmware update will allow the vector to work with the 310 as well.

i am still using my 205 and a Polar F2.  Was eyeing a 310xt with Vector pedals in the spring.  Now I need the 910xt.

Thanks for the info.

If I already have a Polar HR Strap, will it work with the 910xt?

NO. The garmins are ANT+. The polar uses their own system.

ok...maybe a dumb question...but just checking...

I have a 305 with HR and thus have the HR strap.  That will work with the 910 right? I don't have to pay the higher price for "heartrate"...right?  I really like the $399 vs $499!!

Thanks!

Yup!! HR straps will be compatible.  At least that's what I've read.

I have an assortment of Garmin products and thus an assortment of straps. The classic and premium or whatever they call them. I prefer to older one and have had no problems pairing any Garmin strap with any Garmin product. My 305 strap pairs just fine with my 610 and vice verse...
