What races are you all doing next year in the UK. I plan to do Blenheim in June, Essex and 999 tri in July, Cambridge oly in August and vitruvian half iron in September. Be good to see some of you at any of the above.

Hi David

I would say the unpredictable weather in England is always going to make it hard to give you a guarantee but it would certainly make sense to pick races in the south as it tends to be warmer there. I have a club mate who races with their asthma pump tucked into the top of their tri-suit just in case but so far they haven't needed to use it. Aim for June-September and you should find the temperature is not cold and for open water races the later the better as it will be warmed up over the summer.

The only one I have on the list so far is Ironman Arizona.

Trying to plan through the company to do several in and around London, though.

Did the Cambridge Oly this year and will more than likely do it again next year. As for the rest, sprints in Northampton (Duston in April and Roade in September) and, hopefully, my first Middle distance (venue/date to be decided).

Cambridge is a good race I did it in 2009. Blenheim booked today for the saturday sprint. Best pick up my training over the winter.

I'll be keeping it local and doing Leeds Olympic Distance if Xtra Mile Events put on the same good show as they did this year, Dearne Valley and then end the year with Ilkley Triathlon Sprint.

Ideally I'd like to add one or two more olympic distance, so I'll be checking out the forum for recommendations.

(But what I'd really, really like is to combine a European holiday and a triathlon).

Cheers

Rob

Signed up for the Vitruvian yesterday. Apparently it sold out 1000 places in 24 hours which is amazing. Anyone else got a place ??

Thinking of doing the Valhalla middle distance. Has anyone done this before/know what it's like?

Steve its a great little event. Only about 250 competitors as the transition area is a bit tight. The lake is crystal clear and usually nice and warm, I was watching the fish below me and nearly missed a turn. The bike route is very flat with only a couple of small climbs but it can be very windy. The run is pancake flat around farm tracks mostly on packed dirt and some concrete roads. If its a still day you have a good chance of a PB time.

So far just 2 things on my calender:

Thames Turbo Sprint Race 3, June 3rd

HSBC Triathlon Olympic Dorney Lake, Sept 16th

I've been 'challenged' by an Aussie mate for the Thames Turbo one, so I best get training as we ALL know those Aussies tend to be a teeny bit competitive.

Cleveland Steelman - half Iron (7/7/12)
Will probably register for Tadcaster (Sprint), and Wetherby (Oly)
Will marshall again at the wonderful Ripon Tri
A really good new event at Newby Hall in June looks promising
Yorkshire Weather guaranteed at all these events!
Am also looking forward to Paris Marathon in April
