I'm super super happy.  I'd love a dog, but really am gone too long in the day without someone to help me out.  I had a cat for 18 years, but its been 12 years since I have one.  It seriously is the happiest I've been all year.  I told the landlord its either that, or I'm feeding the squirrels and deer!

Bought the kids a bunch of winter clothes through employee purchase at the shop. They are decked out.

Everyone is healthy and happy.

turtlegirl - 2011-10-14 11:42 AM my landlord is letting me get a kitty!!!  I lost my dog in June, and I've been animal-less at home since.  So excited! Laughing

Then you should change your BT handle/name to "kittygirl".

* My wife left love notes for me all over the house... Okay, all over the kitchen.

...

Did the notes have "Clean up your damm mess!", per chance??

Or maybe she's warming me up for the cobra/mongoose taxidermy project coming in the mail...

1) Eww...

2) Why would that bother you?

3) Eww...

I had a productive week - yet spent most of it working at home!

Walked 3 days in a row...not very far - but i'm out and moving.

Survived the weekend with family...and got some great pictures of the little one!!  (This one was actually taken by Bri - DT's daughter!)

Iris!

ETA:  Anyone taking Calc and want help...If I've got time -and I usually do- I'm willing to help...(<-Math Nerd!!)

OMG, my womb is crying. What a precious, delicious baby.

As for me, I'm recovering from allergy issues that had my scalp, ear, neck, and lips blistered and weeping. I'm allergic to life!

- It's MARATHON WEEKEND! WAHOOOO

- Husband and I have made a dedicated pact to be more positive. We watched this awesome video (which talks a tiny bit about JavaScript, but the overarching theme was "an end to negativity") http://jsconf.eu/2011/an_end_to_negativity.htmland we've been marinating on it for a while. Three days in to "PosiFest" and we're doing good.

- We're having lunch with my college roommate and her husband (also a friend) and their beautiful little daughter today before the race expo. I haven't seen her since graduation and I'm so so happy!

-I am safely allowed to announce that I'll be an aunt soon! My brother and sister in law sent me the first photos of my nephew/niece this week. It kind of blows my mind that my parents are going to be GRANDPARENTS. There's also the possibility that me and the Blob will have birthdays around the same time.

- Ran into a good friend from High School yesterday at work. She and I were on swim team together and I always respected her a lot. She's doing great in life and she's a wonderful genuine person. It made me really happy to see her.

- Finally had an appointment to work on my tattoo, and it has been healing great. It looks awesome, too. Two more appointments and I'll be done.

- I got approached to take a bit of a leadership role, and I think it will go well.

Curried Butternut Squash Coconut Bisque

1 med. Butternut squash peeled seeded and cut into chunks

1 med. Onion cut into chunks

1 med potato, peeled and cut into chunks

¼ (more or less) cup olive oil

½ tsp ground ginger

3 cloves garlic chopped fine

¼ tsp white pepper

1 tbsp onion powder

1 tsp salt

½ madras curry powder

Combine the above in a heavy bottom pan over med-high heat until onions begin to clarify and a bit of brown crust appears on the bottom of the pan.

Deglaze the pan with 1½ cups unsalted vegetable stock. Then add enough stock to cover the vegetables and simmer until the they are tender. Taste for seasoning. The stock should seem a little too spicy (the coconut milk and cream will cool it down considerably).

Remove all vegetables and a bit of the stock and liquefy in a blender, or use an immersion blender to smooth the soup.

Add:

1 can coconut milk and 1/3 cup light cream (for vegan version substitute the cream from another can of coconut milk for the cream)

Pinch of cardamom (opt)

Return soup to a simmer. Serve hot. Garnish with dried dill weed.

Wow! I made this tonight and it was amazing! Thank you for sharing.
