5150 Clearwater - 5150 Series Finale : Official Thread

I'm in. I am flying in from Pennsylvania for a friend's wedding Friday night, and took the opportunity to do a new distance that weekend.

I was going to fly my bike, but I'm cheap, so the various options all seemed off for me, especially considering my lack of mechanical skills. But I contacted Chainwheel Drive about a rental, and this is interesting: they have an exact copy of my bike in their rental fleet. Same size frame, same everything even color. So I'm set there.

Ill be driving from Atlanta probably on wednesday or thursday...

It'll be my first ocean swim.

This was going to be the peak of my year one.

Guess I can focus on my half-marathon training now.

Yup!!  I just got mine too.... this is insulting.

I was cancelled twice now.  First Lake Lanier, they offered me an entry spot to Clearwater and now, BAM!  Cancelled again...

Yeah, Im feeling no love for WTC right now...

First I would like to say how sorry I am for the race being cancelled.  I was taking Thursday off from work to volunteer for the event. Ya'll can still come down and enjoy beautiful Clearwater(ok, i understand if you don't).

Second, with the WTC being located here in Rocy Point and Clearwater practically being their back yard, it's a shame they could'nt find some way to increase awareness/participation.  For being the world leader in the multi-sport "branding" of events....seems like they can't get enough locals to pay $$ to enter.
