Run
Comments: Started out at what felt like a pretty easy pace. Actually kept slowing myself down a bit to keep it just under a 5 min/km pace which would give me around a 1:45. Things felt fantastic until we turned back into the wind at around the 13.5k mark. The wind was brutal - 20-25 MPH at about a 45 degree angle from either the left or right for the remainder of the run. Going up the 3 hills into the wind really hurt me both physically and mentally. My guess is it cost me around 2 mins over all. What I think really held me back was not doing many runs at this pace. While I felt great for the first half at that pace, once things got rough, I had no endurance to push through it. Being sick didn't help either. What would you do differently?: Run some more "hard" runs rather than just easy. Also, not get sick for the 5 days before the race. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: 1. Not enough hard training runs 2. Being sick for 5 days prior 3. WIND Last updated: 2011-09-28 12:00 AM

Woke up at 6am, had a coffee and my usual Oatmeal for breakfast. Had plenty of time to get ready and head downtown to the race site.
Did a 2.5k warmup - felt "ok". Not great, not terrible. About the same as the couple of runs I did in the previous days while sick.
