Most of our 2011 team is returning to the Keys. We had so much fun, we're bringing a second team of Buttercups.

Race finishes on my 50th birthday. Will be a great weekend.

Woo-hoo, I can't believe how quickly this is coming up!   I am cracking up over some of the instructions for the runners and vans.  For instance, at Exchange 20, drivers are warned:  "Be cautious not to run over crab traps located near parking areas."

My dad asked me about the race recently and said "You know that race you're running in Florida?  It's a 100 miles between Miami and Key West!" and I said "Well, it's actually 200..."  He looked stunned and then I eventually realized he didn't know I had 11 people splitting the distance with me.

Renee - we are almost birthday buddies, mine is the 8th.  I am looking forward to celebrating the race and my birthday in the days after.

It's going to be quite a weekend, I am sure...

We've got 10 on the team so far!

Myself, my mom, my dad, three sisters, a friend of a sister, a friend of mine, my boyfriend, his sister... it's a family thing

We've got 7 returning runners, and 1 volunteer turned runner.

Now to find the remaining two...

We have 2 teams going this year. A regular team (Tramp Stamp-ede) and an ultra team (I wish something else was this long). 3 returners on the regular team and 2 returns on the ultra team.

Should be a great time.

I am from Seattle but I just recently got recruited to come join a team! Maybe I will see you all in FLA in a month?

I am still working on all of my details but do any of you guys have recommendations on getting back to Miami from Key West? I heard the ferry is no longer an option (bummmmmer!)

My team starts at 11:00.   Since I am van 2, I don't have to run until after 3:30.   A nice change from Great River this summer, when we had a start time for 7:30.   In order to arrive at our start (van 1) at 6:30, we left town at 4am.  Somehow I managed to sleep until 3:30.  That was a loooooog day.

I am really excited.  I'll be on Ballistic Buttercups Too.   I am traveling down from Minnesota and looking forward to a little vacation afterwards!

You all are starting pretty early, so I guess I'll see you in Key West

Also, I found that one-way rental was too bad.    Avis was the cheapest.  I am driving up so my friend and I can hang out in Key West the morning of the 8th and do a little bit of sightseeing on our own time.

First of all, I love that your team is Ludicrous Speed! I am meeting with one of my teammates tomorrow and I will have a better idea of what the hell is going on. I know what Ragnar is but I don't know ANY details. I have also never been to Florida before. That being said, can I get back to you? I may take you up on your offer!

We've all got Spaceballs character names. I'm Barf (mostly due to a hungover 5k PR that nearly lead to a finish-line puke - who pukes at a 5k?!)

Feel free to PM me with Ragnar questions or needs. I did the race last year, too. We're a team of 12 taking 2 12-person vans round trip from Ft Lauderdale to Key West. So, we've got room going north, if needed.

Hey All,

This is my first time doing the keys run, but I did the tarpon-springs to daytona two years ago.

We are an ultra team with 4 that have run 100 mile relays in the past.

Looking forward to the race!

Team "Tramp Stamp-ede" is starting at 1:00pm. Look for us in our neon pink t-shirts and tramp stamps.

Any runners looking for a team?

Our team (RunAmok) could really use some late additions.

We're a mixed team, coming from the Tampa Bay Area.

Hey all,

I have never been to Florida OR run a Ragnar. Any last minute tips? What kind of clothes should I pack to run in @ night?

Last year it was cool at night 50-60 but once you started you really don't want anything but shorts and short sleeves.  With the humidity even at that temp you will do plenty of sweating.

Sweats and light jacket for when you are not running and out of the vehicle put I would not plan on anything but shorts for running.

I've been looking at the weather and the temps don't vary much between night and day, so I agree about the shorts/tshirts.  I am coming from 30 degrees, so I'll be personally roasting during the day and am REALLY glad my longest run is at night.

My best last minute advice is to get a lot of sleep leading up to the event, because it will be limited on Friday night/Saturday morning.  Just have fun and roll with it!  You'll be amazed how much energy you'll have after the event, at least for a few hours
