Pre-race routine:

Arrived early and met Marcy and her mom and husband. Very nice folks. Becky arrived shortly thereafter, and I saw them all off on the 5K and got to cheer for them as they came in before the 10K started. Nice that it was laid out that way.
Event warmup:

Jogged a little, then a couple of 100 yd acc strides. I think this might be the first time I ever actually warmed up for a race. Have always figured the race is enuf warmup, but kinda nice to get to the starting line and know my legs would not feel like concrete.

Comments:

This was a good run for me, and a PR. Improved by 1:39 over previous PR at Tour des Fleurs a month ago. Somewhat lower temps helped I'm sure, and I felt like it was as good as I could do at my current fitness level. I guess I have my sports confused because I actually drafted off a couple of guys in the middle miles of the race. Not really all that windy, but it did help a little and with pacing. I was also able to get away without testing my BG at all during the race. My continuous glucose monitor was reasonably well callibrated and tracking well with finger sticks before the race.
What would you do differently?:

Not really anything. Feel really good about the effort and the improvements.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, tried to buy a shirt, talked to a few people, and waited for Becky to come in so we could go to second breakfast :).

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I think I did as well as could be expected for my level of fitness, so I just need to keep chipping away at that. Still ran w/ pretty high BG's (low/mid 200's ending at 180), and I would likely feel/run a little better if I can dial that in without tanking. With the CGM, I think I'll be able to gain some confidence on that.

Event comments:

Very nice race put on by LGRAW. Volunteers were awesome, and the whole vibe was nice and relaxed. Results were posted quickly. Not a whole lot in terms of post race, but that's not a big deal to me. I recently joined the club, so will be nice to volunteer in the future.
