Comments: I was in the front group of 5 for the first two miles. After the rather quick first mile everyone naturally slowed down once we really got into some more hilly terrain. I had dropped back about 25 yards right before the 3rd mile marker and was feeling good. Knew that I could push it for the last bit and catch right back up. Then we turned the corner and started a big hill and the old dude in the lead really accelerated up the hill. I couldn't catch back on. He ended up winning with a time of 18:40 What would you do differently?: Train more on hills Post race
Warm down: Paced up and down Drank a water then a powerade What limited your ability to perform faster: I really wasn't prepared for so much undulation in the course. It was tough for me to keep switching from uphill to downhill and back. Event comments: For a fundraising event with an exceptionally limited budget this race is quite good. The volunteers are dedicated and everything was organized very well. I understand their need to keep costs down by not getting timing chips, but hopefully for next year they'll have the timing chip capability donated. Great race. Great cause.
