Subject: Powertap Group buy

BT,

As in previous years, I am helping coordinate a powertap group buy for beginnertriathlete members. As many of you know, I am a big proponent of training with power and this is my way to help those looking to get this tool to make it possible.

Landrys Bicycles and CycleOps are offering the following deals:

  • Get a CycleOps Power Tap Pro+ laced into a DT Swiss RR 465 wheel and paired with a Joule 2.0. cost - $900 plus shipping
  • Get a CycleOps Power Tap SL+ laced into a DT Swiss RR 465 wheel and paired with a Joule 2.0. cost - $1000 plus shipping

Notes:

  • Since CycleOps is coming up with new models of some of this models, the above offer is while supplies last.
  • Other wheels maybe be available, but that may change the cost.
  • Currently there is not availability for PT Elite+ or Comp through this offer.
  • The Joule Computer value alone is ~$400

I own a Pro+ and a SL+ and I *personally* think the Pro+ with DT Swiss wheel and the Joule computer is a great deal! I use mine all the time for training and fortunately I have one for racing but if didn't, I would race on it using a plastic disc cover (you can get this from places like wheelbuilder.com). I also love the Joule computer and is my choice for cycling computer; I own a Garmin 310x and used to have an Edge 500 which I sold when I got the Joule.

If you have any questions, let me know. If you want to benefit from this offer, shoot me an email to [email protected] and I'll help you coordinate your order.

Full disclosure - I have no personal gain from the offer above. I do have a relationship with both Landrys and CycleOps as sponsors through the Boston Tri Team and my biz E3 Training Solutions.

Jorge may have NO personal gain from this deal BUT YOU will if you take advantage of it!!!  Looking for that Christmas present, way to spend end of the year bonus, tax refund or whatever else has money burning a hole in your pocket---get a PT and then hammer away at Jorge's winter plan...don't even bother taking names come spring!!

Jorge - Thanks for arranging this! Might there be an option to purchase the hub & computer (no wheel)? I'm happy with the wheels I have on my bike now, and could have the hub laced to my current rear wheel.

How about a deal without the Joule computer?  Is that doable also?

There is but the savings are only ~$75. You probably would benefit more from getting the Joule and selling it for ~$200-300

Would there be an option for a PT Pro in an upgraded wheelset without the Joule computer? I got the PT Pro with Joule 2.0 and the DT465s last year - love the PT and it is a great wheelset for training. But it might be nice to have a race wheel option.

I did this last year, and it was the best decision I could have made. I trained with power diligently over the winter and it helped dramatically on the bike this past season. It's definitely a great investment!

If it looks like a good deal, and sounds like a good deal, it must be a good deal.

Now time to try to convince the wife the same thing.

If not I still have the Nashbar powermeter that came with the trainer, but that's no good for on the road.

there is an option for a PT Pro and upgraded wheelset. Price would depend on the wheelset. As for the no Joule, there is an option but the saving is not that much ~$75. As I mentioned above, you could get it and easily sell the Joule for $200-300 (usually $450 new).

I hope that helps.

There is no deadline per se; but CycleOps might run out stock for this offer sometime in the near future. In fact, others online retailers are offering a similar offers though not as cheap. So it is hard to tell but perhaps sometime over the next 2-3 weeks?
