Overall Rank = /
Age Group = 40-45
Age Group Rank = 36/50
Pre-race routine:

Since this was my first Olympic, I do not have much of a routine. We did get there bright and early to get marked and get my stuff in T2 before heading to T1 for the swim start
Event warmup:

Not much pre race. Since T2 was in a different location, I had to leave my running shoes so I could not really run in flip flops. We were not allowed in the water. Just streatched, ate a Luna Bar and had some water.
Swim
  • 45m 26s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 46s / 100 yards
Comments:

The water temp was really warm. My goal going into the swim was to just keep a comforatble pace and save something for the bike and run. I didn't get beaten up too bad...a few kicks and punches but overall unscathed.
What would you do differently?:

Swim faster and try to draft
Transition 1
  • 02m 54s
Comments:

Had to put my T1 stuff into a bag to be taken over to T2. Fought with my gloves a little.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really. Pretty happy with the transition
Bike
  • 1h 32m
  • 24.85 miles
  • 16.21 mile/hr
Comments:

Not a bad ride. It was hillier than I thought but I think that actually helped me since I ride hills a lot at home. I passed a lof of women and got passed by a lot of men. I did attach the aero bars and even though I did not have a lot of experience with them I found myself using them. I was very happy with my bike performance.
What would you do differently?:

Try to drink more and not pay so much attention to my computer.
Transition 2
  • 01m 45s
Comments:

Not much, I was pretty happy with this transition
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 1h 20m 28s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 12m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

I knew going into the race that this was going to be the toughest part for me and it was. I had to walk a bit but ran most of the course. The trick was I walked before getting into the park when there was not anyone to watch. Once in the park I ran, albeit slowly, the entire way. Same pattern on lap 2. Overall though, I was pretty happy with the time I posted.
What would you do differently?:

Become a better runner!! I have the entire winter to practice...practice...practice!
Post race
Warm down:

I was hurting as soon as I crossed the line. Walked around a little to look for my swim coach who was there with her Team in Training Group. Had some Powerade and a bananna

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My lousy run.

Event comments:

I can't wait to do it again next year.

Congrats on your first Oly!!

Glad you had fun and look forward to doing it again...the ultimate proof it was fun.

Cool that you passed women on the bike...and were only passed by a few men. We need to start the working on running this winter club!! I'm right there with you. Good job of running most of the way.....it is a long day after the swim and bike when running is hardest for some of us.

Fast transitions...you did awesome!!
