Ok- I know this should be under Who's Racing, but since most of the Atlanta BT'ers hang out in Cup of Joe I decided to post it here.  I was wondering if any Altanta BT'ers (or GA BT'ers) want to do this ride this Saturday.  run4yrlif and myself will participating in the 65 mile ride.  I have posted this event before and got no responses, so I will post it again to see if anyone wants to join in on the fun!  Let me know!  We can eat burritos afterwards!

Jim- apparently these people don't know what they're missing out on.  They don't know how much fun we are!  Oh well- their loss....

Really! Well, I'll be there at least. And I'm sure if Comet were in town, she'd be there (even though she says she hates Augusta...but if it weren't for Augusta, she wouldn't have her Mini).

Sounds like it'd be a blast, but I just can't afford the fundage to get down there.

I'm still a poor student here, remember?

Y'all have fun though!

Steve- it's ok.  Don't be afraid- I won't ride 65 miles while being on my cell non-stop like some other people- don't know who that would be??

Yeah, Janelle'll just be complaining about the "hills" like they were Mt. Everest and she was without her O2 tanks and sherpa. Comet...you sure you don't want to come and bring your phone?

LOL- yeah I will be complaining about the hills.  But it won't matter Jim because you'll be ahead of me.  You'll just have to listen to me complain about them for the next few days after the ride- lol.  But no really, overcomng hills on the bike is one of my goals. I don't mind running them so much, just hate biking them.  Maybe Saturday will be my turning point to love them!  I usually hate them becuase I slow down sooo much, almost too much.  If I didn't worry about my speed, I would probably just do what feels comfrotable to make it through them without complaining.  I think I'll leave my bike computer on, but won't put it on my avg. mph setting.  Since it's not a race, I don't want to obsess about my speed- especially since hills are involved and I'll be slower.  That way, I won't complain about them as much.

A lot of it (most of it) is psychological. There's no reason you shouldn't be good at rising hills. You're small, you've got a nice, light bike, and you have decent power. You're SUPPOSED to slow down, so just expect it and don't stress about it.

Here's a great article: http://www.trifuel.com/triathlon/bike/climbing-hills-000762.php

Is the biggest hill in Augusta a bridge?  I'm just askin.  It would be fun and would be an option BUT..I will be in the second session of a class.  Gotta learn what to do after the baby comes out (insert wise crack here or NOT).

Someone should try to organize a GA BT'ers group ride.  Any takers??

Believe it or not, there's parts of Augusta that have decent hills.  They are more like rolling hills.  We definitely need a GA BT ride.  I would be in for that!  I don't want to plan it though

There is a century (with shorter options) next April the week before the Tour De Georgia (if it still happens next year) that goes from Jefferson GA to the top of Brasstown Bald...shorter option ends in Helen....just a thought!

After your HM? Sure! The more hills you run, the better, Janelle. And this puppy'll put all those other hills you run in perspective. It'll be very, very good for you.

Have you done that thing!!!  We went this last year and all I have to say is, "Damn, I am glad it came a blinding snowstorm/ icey road thing"!  We all drove to the top and got checked in, lingered a few minutes because it was COLD at the top and the next thing you know it starts to snow.  Harder and harder, you couldn't see 50 feet!!  Roads up there started to ice over and the park service said ...ain't running today.  We all drove back down to the foot and they let us run up if we wanted.  I made it about a mile maybe a little more before I turned around.

My shins hurt for over week!!  It is agonizingly steep.  Hill repeats up Stone Mountain anyone?  It was fun though!  They would have had hot soup for you at the top.
