Master 1929 Midlothian, VA | Subject: RE: Post your weight loss pics here! Beware of the "After After" pics... That's what happens when you get busy and the workouts slide away. I have been doing a lot more running lately, but it doesn't seem to be as slimming as the swimming and biking. A few days ago I signed up for a challenge on SlowTwitch to do 72 workout sessions in 2 months. (Sessions at least 3 mile runs, 12 mile bikes and 1200 yard [?!?] swims.) I decided to start taking photos every night thinking maybe at some point I can get an interesting time-lapse put together or something. Summer 2004 Winter 2009:

Feel rather disappointed, spent from January 2010 to June training for my 1st HIM, thought I was doing pretty good I went from 238 to 222, but then I saw a pic of me in my tri suit, I'm lucky i wasn't arrested for indecent exposure! Back surgery shortly after that race and gained the weight right back. I'm going to really focus on running this winter and hopefully that will knock off the pounds? Thanks for the inspiration!!!!!!! |

168 | Subject: RE: Post your weight loss pics here! faded memories, I feel you man. I have too many yo-yo episodes and a new excuse for every one. I am determined for this to be my last. In a sick way, the new IM Kona legacy rule may actually keep me from yo-yoing too much. I am nearly 35 and would like to do Kona before I am 45, so if I can't qualify outright, I am going to need to pack several IMs into the 10 years. This thread is incredible. Absolutely one of the most inspiring things I have ever seen. |

Extreme Veteran 404 Dallas, TX | Subject: RE: Post your weight loss pics here! Anditrigirl - 2011-11-03 7:08 PM First, I've been active for years and doing tri's since '99. But, for about 4 years (Jan 2006-Nov. 2009) I worked ridiculous hours, had hypothyroidism (undiagnosed) and gained 40 pounds. This is a 90 day transformation using P90X and running only from 11/09 - 03/10. The before is me doing escape from alcatraz (utterly exhausted from the unknown thyroid prob). The after is me (at the age of 40) . I actually weighed 10 pounds MORE than the before pic when I started P90X, but wouldn't allow a before shot so had to use this. I weigh about 5 pounds more than my after pic right now, but the pic below is "race weight" of 110. Impressive results in such a short time... and if I may say so... HOT. I suppose that there's a natural assumption that SBR was the means to weight loss. For me, it was pure weight training and fixing my diet. I did zero cardio aside from recreational hiking, mountain biking, and swimming. I started triathlon and running last year just for fun and have since lost much of my upper body muscle. The next few months are going to be nothing but running and weights. |

Once I started getting injured (running) I fell into crosstrainig (swim and bike) and well, as long as I was doing all three.... I would say I've only lost 5-8kg from SBR. |

Until this thread, since I have been losing weight at a very slow rate (and have 4 kids, you know you have NO FREE time with those little distractions ) I never really realized how much I've changed. So thanks for this thread!

I do s/b/r because of course, that's what does burn the calories. When there's all the debate on here about whether or not to ST, there's no debate for me (but I don't do ST for athletic performance). Andi |
