Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 31/85
Pre-race routine:

Wake up early get ready mentally, look over the race course and mentally go through the event one element at a time. Check out my bike and transition area to ensure no loss of time due to poor preplanning preventing proper performance.
Event warmup:

Hydration Hydration Hydration ... stretching, listen to fast and loud music to get the heart rate UP!!!
Swim
  • 34m 58s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 08s / 100 yards
Comments:

For my 3rd large open water swim and first at this distance I felt like I had under trained by more then the 10% and know I need to work on getting used to the ditance. Other then that the water was just below bath water. Perfect!!!
What would you do differently?:

Practice the distance more ... seemed to get tired in the middle and had to use other heats
Transition 1
  • 02m 45s
Comments:

Need to get faster from water to bike!!!
What would you do differently?:

Get a one piece suit and learn to have shoes hooked onto the pedals to expedite the start.
Bike
  • 1h 15m 34s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 19.73 mile/hr
Comments:

Good well designed course. Enjoyable and fair to test all aspects of riders abilities. Fantastic course monitoring and traffic control. Great to have the TNT crew out on the course yelling and motivation everyone!!!
What would you do differently?:

Peddal at a faster pace and be more agressive on the passing of slower riders.
Transition 2
  • 01m 47s
What would you do differently?:

Need to work on the pre dismount - racking proceedures ...
Run
  • 1h 04m 5s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 10m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

I am the worst runner that I know!!! I just have to bare down and push through to make myself a better runner.
What would you do differently?:

Learn to run!!! Run through the pain and push harder during training.
Post race
Warm down:

Rehydration, stretch and massage. Carbo-reloading later that evening at a post race TNT Party!!!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Poor overall fittness. I could have pushed the fittness to the next level and been able to preform better in the run. The brick workouts were great, but need to do many more of them in longer distances ... 25 x 5 etc ...

Event comments:

Many thanks to my coach Patti Harden (Team in Training MD) as she rocks! She gave me every tool in her arsenol to make me be able to preform well. I beat my overall goal (Sub3) by seconds and was able to party like a rok star after the event!!!

Congratulations ... great times + you partied like a rock star after the event does not equate to the beating you gave yourself on the report.

Bottom line: you do a tri w/ challenging distances and able to party like the rock star you are = victory!

Sounds like you had a great race and a fun evening.  Not to mention you did well in your AG and you were at Disney.  Sounds like a great day to me!!

"Poor overall fitness" and you ran a sub 3-hour Olympic tri?  You must be kidding.  Great Job!

I had a few friends at this race and heard it was a lot of fun.  Also heard that the MD TNT crew really took things over since your chapter was so big.

I did one practice with her at the lakes about 3 weeks before the race and it was the best swim practice I had ever been too. I thikn I will be joining yuo all over the winter as I have benn convinced to do Columbia and Eagleman ... so back to the fitness and drills for this slacker. I hope to be able to introduce myself to you at one of her killer practices n the future.
