Subject: Changing Cassette- Gears aren't shifting correctly, help

Changing my cassette from my training tires to my race tires and running into a problem.

I switched the cassette to my Zipp 404's and placed wheel into my bike. When I try to shift, the gears shift, but it doesn't shift on the smallest ring (12t) for two gears. Then on the upper end (27T), my chain doesn't even get to the 27T. I checked spacers and put it on exactly as i took it off from my training tires.

When my gear is in the 2nd largest gear (24T), there is a *click*click sound that it makes. What am I missing from my little bike mechanic boo-boo?

Assuming that the hub width and offset are the same on the Zipp's then things should line up. Measure the hub and see if they're the same width. Hold the two wheel sets side by side and see if the off-set is the same. That's the only thing I can think of.

Chains wear along with cassettes, so if you change to a new cassette with the same old chain, you may get the symptoms you describe, because the two no longer "match."
