This is an easy one:
Required: Garbage can, green face paint, green wig, 20 minutes

Steps:
Cut out the bottom of the garbage can and cut out 2 holes at opposite sides for your arms.
Apply face paint and wig
Don modified can

Voila - Oscar the Grouch!

With some string you can even attach the lid hinge like, or make a chin strap and wear it like a hat!

Drew, you take the prize!!!!!

My best costume was duff man - red cape, blue tights, red baseball cap, sunglasses, and the beer-belt

Other notables
Bender from futurama - he was in a grey box, and held broom sticks to suspend his 2m long arms
Cookie smurf - white pants, a top hat, and purple paint

Okay, two best costumes ever:
1) a guy I saw had on black pants, white shirt, backpack, bike helmet-he was a mormon guy. Hope not to offend, but it was freakin brilliant.

2)The year before last, before Martha was imprisoned, I was Martha-in-jail. I had a blond wig, a jail suit and a neiman marcus bag filled with stuff. On the fly I was carving candle votives out of apples and gourds (pumpkins to you and me). I was sticking umbrellas in everyone's drinks and coasters under the drinks. Had handcuffs with pearls hot glued to them. So funny-had a blast being Martha. Okay, I have issues.

For those who don't know, Halloween could be my favourite holiday (if you can call it that). You get to dress however you want, have a (few) beers, and you don't have to buy anyone presents. Come on, name a better day.

Fourth of July. Go to the lake/reservoir/mountains/beach, have a picnic or barbecue, eat meat, drink beer, blow stuff up, no presents for anyone, no family necessary, wear shorts, get a sunburn.

There IS no better holiday. Gawd, I love the smell of roasting meat and gunpowder in the summer.

THAT is brilliant. And if you can carve candle votives out of apples on the fly, you frighten me, truly.

Two years ago, I wore devil ears, pointy tail, and a slutty top. BUT, I also carried a large basket, which I would proceed to stand in whenever anyone asked me what it was for. No, I was not your run-o-the-mill slutty satan, I was (say it with me) HELL IN A HAND BASKET.

Last year, I was at my friend's birthday party on a remote barrier island in South Carolina. There was an oyster roast and we skinny dipped. No costumes that I recall, though, as part of an inside joke, I got to put a mermaid temporary tattoo on almost everyone there, including a noted benthic microbiologist who shall remain nameless. In the middle of his forehead, no less. Man is not running for office, apparently.

Ok, THAT is funny. I have an idea, YOU be the pinata! But if you come up North, please don;t ask to get whacked or you may find yourself with cement boots being tossed into a nearby river....

I can just imagine what might "pop out" of some pinatas if they were whackedstruck a certain way.... snicker snicker

Well the 4th of July is just another day here, so I rest my case.

Well, it was Pritchard's Island and I was busy that night, so could be. See attached for the tat, maybe you'll recognize it. If you heard anyone yelling, 'hey boo, don't swim into the light', the odds are good that was our party.

And I'm loving the Pinata idea--someone must do that and post pictures here.

Hmmm, crap. I just realized I don't know how to post pics on a thread. Damn. Maybe I can post to my blog. Techy people, help???

Oh! I almost forgot to mention one of my favorite guy costumes: Khaki's, pink polo, and a name tag that says 'Non Threatening Male Friend.'
