Subject: RE: Highlight/bummer of your season?

Highlights

  • Finishing 6th overall in the Tri the Parks Sprint Series
  • Having the 3rd fastest bike split at the High Falls race
  • Meeting and hanging out with all my new BT friends at the races
  • Being able to experience 3 athletes first tri ever this year and being able to see Tricomet finish her first IM.

Lowlights

  • DNFing the GFT full iron ( already done one IM so this isn't as big a bummer as it could have been)
  • Shoulder injury at the beginning of the season set back my racing and training
  • Not being able to train as much as I would have liked

Highlights

  • Completeing 3 races in my first season
  • Having my hubby join me in the training and race with him in Games of Acadiana.
  • Coming out 3rd AG for Games of Acadiana, 3rd Athena for Abitaman 3.
  • Realizing during hurricane evacuation that our most expensive posessions we could take with us were our bikes. (How sad is that?)
  • Finally finding a reason to work out every single day...no excuses!
  • Going to my 10 year high school reunion and having the girl in the best shape ask me to be her training partner if I ever moved to her town, telling me "You kick ass! I could never do that!"

Bummers

  • Katrina causing me to miss 2 races and 7 weeks worth of motivation to keep training.
  • Missing the awards ceremony at Games of Acadiana, because I thought I couldn't POSSIBLY have made the podium!
  • Having to explain to my husband why I broke the bike rack when it was less than 24 hours old. (the truck had to be washed, damnit!)
  • Wishing I hadn't started this sooner!

Its been said, but I still need to say it.........

"What a great thread!" We all should take the time to reflect on the season.

Highs

+ Getting faster in every race versus last season

+ Getting onto the AG podium at the World Masters Games

+ Truly enjoying myself out there, weither it be training or racing

+ Buying new toys, and dreaming of other ones

Lows

- Partialy seperating my achillies tendon

- Re-injuring my shoulder

- Getting hit by cars.....

- Paying for toys

We've just been through winter, I still had a season.
Here goes:

HIGHS
+ Training for Melbourne Marathon, eating lots and losing weight.
+ Completing the Mebourne Half Marathon under goal time.
+ The high I felt as I crossed the finish line.
+ Learning to enjoy and relax while running.
+ Coming out of winter with some running experience under my belt.

LOWS
- 2 week illness set my marathon training right back, I had to reassess and go for the half.
- Gaining the weight I lost when I cut back my training!
- Struggling with motivation during the off season.

Here comes summer and tri season!
