For a while I was taking a multivitamin (1-a-day Max) with breakfast and about 45 minutes after taking it my stomach would start to really turn over and I would get nauseous...

Does anyone else have this issue?

Did you switch to something else?

Thanks
Shaun

Yes, if I take it on an empty stomach. Fine if I take it along with some solid food such an apple or something.

FYI: I got my vitamines from Costco. Probably the Kirkland brand.

Yep...I stopped taking them.  They make me nauseous and sometimes throw up...and I don't throw up easy.  It helps if you take them with food or at the end of the day instead of the morning.  One of those things I should do but don't....

It took me a long time to find one that didn't make me sick...Thompson Nuplex is the one that works for me. I have to special order them right now because I can't find a store that has them. Thompson makes some other multi's that do make me sick. I agree that trying a few and at different times of the day might help. I don't take them at all on race mornings.

Shaun,

I also had the problem of my multis making me sick when I first started taking them. I started off with the Women's One-a-Day. I did some research and was told that taking a more "natural" vitamin should be easier on my system. My experience has been that this holds true (for me, might be different for others.)

I found the NOW brand EcoGreen Multi and never have any problems with it. I always take it with my breakfast and, beyond the taste while swallowing, I never have any problems with it.

Good luck!

Amanda

Wow I was just going to start a thred like this b/c I have the same exact problem. i have tried two types of GNC's and the One a Day. I thought it was just me, but even after a meal (I take mine in the afternoon after lunch) I would get nauseous. Also the coating on a lot of them is really awful and its all I can go to get them down. Anyone use a chewable? Are there any chewables on the market for adults?
Or maybe the organic route, anyone else had sucess with this?

Great post Cube! Thanks.

I use the Premium Insurance Caps by E-Caps.com, and have to say they are the best vitamin I've ever used or tried. I've had really good results w/all their products. After years and much money wasted on other supplements, I'm using all Hammer and E-Caps products only. I never have digestive problems, or crazy insulin spikes, like I've had from other products, such as Gatorade or Cytomax.

I have to take my multi vitamin on a full stomach after a large meal.  If I don't then my stomach cramps up into a knot.  Since i have been taking mine on a full stomach I haven't had any problems.  I have foudn that some vitamins upset my stomach worse than others, but Centrum A to Zinc is fine for me.

Iron can be hard on the stomach, so you might want to try a vitamin not too high in it.  Like Runnergirl (not that this is about her), I use Centrum, and always take it with or after food.

I use to have this problem back in my "lifting" days. Back when I did the Body-for-Life I was choking down a whole handful (12-15 pills at once) of pills prior to my morning cardio and on an empty stomach. At first I use to get that gag reflex over and over during my workout but after a while I guess I got use to it. Even at its worst it would only last 30-60 mins. I decided to just tuff it out since the end result was my primary goal and I wanted it bad enough.
