Looks like I'll go first this week.

Start weight: 337.4
Goal weight: 310.0

last week: 334.6
This week: 329.6

Total loss: 7.8

Freaking Finally! Finally a weigh-in below 330. Lets see if I can keep it there (below 330) and rally for a strong finish. Gobble, gobble turkeys.

Beginning: 205.5
Goal: 200

Last week: 211
This week: 208

Loss this week: 3
Total gain: 2.5

I doubt that I'm going to make my goal of losing 8 more pounds in 18 days.

I have been thinking, though, about my overall goal of being down to 190 by my first race in April or May. This attempt at gradual loss does not seem to be working. It's really hard to limit my intake by just 300 to 500 calories per day. One little slip and I start gaining weight.

I wonder if it would make more sense to restrict my intake by 1000 to 1500 calories and get my weight down in sections. Maybe have a goal per month of four to five pounds, restrict in the beginning until I meet my monthly goal, and then go back to a 300 to 500 cal deficit diet for the rest of the month.

I'd rather suffer now in the off season. As I get closer to race day I want to be well nourished.

Does that make sense to anyone? How would my body react to that kind of restriction?

The chart is updated!

Don, I've heard varying things - I've heard that keeping your body guessing as to how many calories it will get day to day is a good way to stay out of starvation mode and I've heard that restricting too far is bad.

Before you do that, however, try just restricting a bit more - shoot for 5-700 instead of 3-500 and see if that makes a difference.  it's not an exact science and we can't measure exactly...

MAtriMom - It is also a good mental approach as I KNOW exactly what the day holds...I have also found that I can better control things and stick to it if I really know what I'm shooting for...

Yea, exactly.  It's hard to keep the mental dicipline day in and day out.
