Champion 6627 Rochester Hills, Michigan | Subject: 2006 Race Schedule OK, I took a crack at a tentative 2006 race schedule...thought I'd throw it out there for reaction. Red races are pretty firm for me. So react: Feb: Gasaparilla 1/2 Maraton, Tampa, FL (27th) Two other notes: The autumn Colors Olympic isn't really OLY distance; it's between a sprint and an OLY. Also, the Motor City Tri is new, and they didn't post their distance - but we know it'll be held on Belle Isle. That one kind of intrigues me.... |

Veteran 465 Michigan | Subject: RE: 2006 Race Schedule I just started this year and I have only done two races so I obviously can't say which are my favorite races. I liked both that I did - Island Lake and Stoney Creek. I was wondering what everyone thinks about the new race in Detroit. How do you feel about swimming in that water? Is the race on Belle Isle? |

Champion 6627 Rochester Hills, Michigan | Subject: RE: 2006 Race Schedule Stony creek was good. I didn't run either, but Big Fish and Craig Greenfield were spectacular...not crowded, well run, very nice venues. Seahorse was o-----k - nothing to write home about. And lots of people said that the willow du was very good. I dunno about the motor city tri. I'm waiting to see the course before I decide if it's a possibility. The swim - er - concerns me with the water quality, and last time I was on Belle Isle, the pavement was all chewed up....wasn't a very comfortable ride. So I'll have to preview it before makinga call. |

Veteran 219 metro Detroit, MI | Subject: RE: 2006 Race Schedule The Willow Duathalon was my first multisport event, and I liked it. My main sport is road bike racing, so I was back at Willow a week or two later for a standard time trial. Willow is a very nice, and flat park. Stony creek also had a nice duathalon part as well. I kind of messed up my second run at that one back in Sept. And Stony is also flat, with only slight rises, I kind of dislike hills when on foot. Edited by lexington476 2005-12-28 9:25 PM |

Regular 53 Hollywood, CA | Subject: RE: 2006 Race Schedule My schedule is this: Super Bowl 5k- Lansing – Sunday, February 5 Heat The Streets 10k – Detroit – Saturday, February 25 Martian Half Marathon - Northville - April 1 Willow Duathlon – New Boston – Saturday, May 6 Motor City Triathlon – Detroit – Sunday, June 25 Grand Haven Triathlon- July 6? Lansing Legislator Triathlon- Sunday, August 13 Free Press Half Marathon Any input on these races? I'm iffy about the Motor City Tri too. I ran a race on Belle Isle today and it was...meh. The pavement isn't great for biking and the water's pretty sick. |

Extreme Veteran 604 Northwest Ohio | Subject: RE: 2006 Race Schedule The Waterloo Triathlon is a good one. Elite Endeavors always does a good job in organizing events. I would recommend it. Do you guys always do the Crim? I did it back in 2002 after doing the Run thru Hell a couple of weeks prior. I kept hearing about the Bradley Hills and how tough they were, but after the Run Thru Hell, they didn't seem so bad.... Maybe it's time to do the Crim again... |

Champion 6627 Rochester Hills, Michigan | Subject: RE: 2006 Race Schedule Maybe it is. Yeah, the run thru hell is tougher than the crim. The crim has one good hill, and a bunch of rollers in mi 5-10. Waterloo IS a good tri, too. I always forget to look at the Ohio events when putting the calendar together. If it falls on an an off week, I'll pencil it in... |

Member 71 Grand Rapids, MI | Subject: RE: 2006 Race Schedule Here we go: Little Smokies 1/2 IM- Ohio (May 28th) Johans Trifest (Sandy Pines, Michigan)-Olympic (June 18th) Great Lakes Tri (Wayland, MI)-Sprint (July 23rd) Steelhead 1/2 IM (Benton Harbor, MI ) August 6th. IM WI (September 10th) I've done Waterloo before and it was okay. I wouldn't suggest doing the Lansing Legislator. Participants got lost on the course and for those helping out on the course, they didn't know where to direct the participants. Ouch!!!! I do recommend the Interlochen Tri in July (Traverse City, MI). They have a sprint and an olympic one. Great Race!!!!! There is also Reeds Lake (Grand Rapids, MI). I would recommend this race as well. Race on my friends! |

Expert 666 St. Thomas, ON | Subject: RE: 2006 Race Schedule Trixie's first tri will be August 14th here in good ole Windsor. Also, if anyone is looking for a nice early season 10-miler trail run, there's a great one here in Windsor on April 9th (there's also a 5k, which I'll be doing). Last year's course for the 10-miler included going up a 10% incline hill 3 TIMES! My race schedule as of right now, looks like this: Feb 26 - Gasparilla Half-Marathon (Tampa Bay) I'd like to have a later season Oly to compare to St. A's, but it's just not fitting into the schedule! |

Member 5 | Subject: RE: 2006 Race Schedule Here is my schedule so far - everything will be geared toward peaking at the Vineman: May - Indianapolis Mini - (1/2 Marathon) June - Ann Arbor TRI (Sprint) July - Waterloo or Clark Lake July - Vineman - (1/2 Ironman in Sonoma, CA) August - Sylvania (Toledo) - Olympic Distance August - CRIM - Tenative August - Island Lake TRI (Novi) - Tenative September - Stony Creek October - Detroit 1/2 Marathon November - Turkey Trot December - Nothing - I am looking foir a good TRI at the end of June, but I do not want to do the new event at Belle Isle in Detroit as I'm not in love with the idea of leaving my bike there overnight and from the postings on this, it seems like the bike course could be a bit bumpy. Good luck at the Martian everyone - me, I'll be in Las Vegas........... |
