Slacker We're going Saturday, friends driving up from south Georgia - a tradition thing. My hubby's trying to finish the book for like the 5th time before the movie. He should have it memorized by now. How'd your class go?

Class went well. I managed to prepare/complete my training plan for the next 5 mos (meshing my marathon training with my Oly training) and I hardly noticed the ADD antics of the rest of the class. Oh yeah, I underscored some things the instructor read from the book.

I went last night...it was AWESOME. Much darker than the last one...and may I remind, that Azkaban was so much darker than Chamber and Stone were.

Anyone who read the book will notice a few changes and omissions to certain parts, which we can all discuss AFTER we've all seen it!! LOL But keep the Quidditch World Cup part in mind, and what happens at that event in the book, and then compare it to the movie. Hmmmm...

What did you all think? I absolutely loved it, even with some of the changes...and I'm seeing it again tonight on IMAX. Should be even better!

As for the "weird people with overactive imaginations"...yeah, I'm one of 'em. I wore Gryffindor colors and my Gold and Scarlet Abercrombie scarf. But I wasn't the only one...some people came in Death Eater robes, wizard hats, and Hogwarts sweaters. A few kids (and even some adults) had wands. Made for a much more fun experience!! But yeah, we're weird. So what.

I'm pretty sure one of the kids on campus has the Dark Mark tattooed on his left forearm. He has other interesting tattoos and I've only caught glimpses of this one. I've read all the books about a zillion times each, but that's going a little far even for tattoo loving me.

Can't wait to see the film. Wonder if they'll keep making the films after this one?

I'm going tonight at 8:20.

They're casting for the next movie that will start shooting in Jan or Feb, I've heard. I think they're trying to make sure they capture the kids at an age close to the book. So far, so good.

I'm so excited!

I have no doubt of that. They only get better and more exciting from here so I can't imagine them stopping the production. That would be like Lucas saying..."Ya know what? I don't think we'll bother with Episode III...I've had enough."

As we know (we being the ones who've read the books) the characters introduced in this film will be around for a while now...at least into Halfblood Prince, so now it's more of a saga than it was episodal adventures in Stone, Chamber, and Prisoner.

Jeff's crazy inner thought of the day..."hmmm...dark mark on the forearm...wait no, I'm on the good side...perhaps a "G" crest somewhere? After all, a friend of mine has the Slytherin shield on his shoulder....hmmmm..."

Oh. I'm JEALOUS! PLEASE, no SPOILERS!!!!

thanks for the note about it being darker. today i was rethinking my choice to not bring the girls, since i wanted to see it SO badly. better mama judgement ruled out and i will wait until we have a sitter to watch the girls (or one of my girlfriends and i may go, which bill will just have to deal with!).

of course, i COULD go catch the 10:30 show by myself.

I thought the movie was great. The soundtrack was good to. I hope they use the same director for the remaining films.

Yes I agree...directing was great. I'm still a bit upset at some of the omissions though. When it's safe to do so, I'd love to get some opinions on that!

Oh definitely...I loved that I could laugh at some stuff. It was definitely more adult oriented than previous ones. Stuff that just flies of the kids' heads but is funny to us.

I would just love to know though, why XXXXXXXX conjured the dark mark when it was supposed to be YYYYYYY....and why YYYYYY and ZZZZZZ were left out completely in the story when they were such a large part of the book! OK, rant finished.

Anyone notice the Goth band at the dance? It was Pulp!

Omissions: it was an 800 page book. In order to include everything, the movie'd have to be about 6 hours long.

Oh definitely, but that's not what I meant. I meant that they actually made certain characters carry out certain "doings" that other characters did in the book.

That's why you shouldn't read the book again right before the movie. I learned that after the first one came out. And I loved this movie. Best one yet.

i thought it was very good. there were a few scenes where i nearly jumped out of my chair, and others where i was really in awe of the way they visually articulated things from the book. as a film, azkaban is still my favorite film, but goblet of fire is a close second.

POSSIBLE SPOILER AHEAD: its like lord of the rings - it easily could have been a 6 hour movie. there was so much missing, and it felt like things were going at a steady clip, yet it was still 2 1/2 hours! i missed the house elves and felt krum was too 'dumb jock' compared to the way he is portrayed in the book, but then it would be hard to develop all those extra characters, since it already had so much ground to cover. okay, i don't want to spoil anything major for those who haven't seen it.

everyone, go see it!!!!
