That's great Laura - I'm impressed with your self-control at the party! Besides the food, how was the party?

I spent the day yesterday at my parents place so I probably ate more than I would have at home, and I missed a work out. But Friday night I went to spinning after work and ran on Saturday so I didn't feel too bad about the splurge...

Saturday night was my rough spot. Every year my husband and I have a "tree-trimming dinner," which consists of something amazing that he cooks--this year it was pheasant (and really-bad-for-us fried risotto cheese balls) followed by champagne and chocolate while we trim the tree. This is one of the more rare full indulgence nights of the year, so mostly I am going to work on negating that damage for the rest of the week. I did get a good run in yesterday though and a lot of cleaning and a little shoveling.

Tomorrow night is our company xmas party but that won't be too bad. There are only 8 of us so we pick a very nice restaurant for dinner which means I'll be able to manage portions and choices a bit better than in some cheap place.

Sounds like you managed your party really well, Laura!

Good Job Laura..our xmas party is this Wednesday night - we are all going to an Avs game..unfortunately I need to be completely loaded to be around my coworkers and their spouses for more than 30 minutes and as such will probably be taking in a lot of liquid refreshsments(lol)..Plus I am missing 2 volleyball matches to be there..so the damage will probably be double...I guess I will just have to make up for it the rest of the week.

Saturday and Sunday were terrible due to this cold that I have and cannot get rid of...makes me tired and hungry and no energy to speak of..If anyone has any secret remedies I am willing to write a big check for them at this point..

Scott,

Try eating spicy things...that can help kick a cold. And zinc helps a lot of people. You can get nose gels or tablets that supposedly help shorten the cold cycle. I swear by hot and spicy chicken soup--if nothing else it makes you feel better.
