Why would you use bars with a sloping wing versus a flat wing forTT/Tri racing? Could someone tell me the advantages or disadvantages ofone vs. the other?

Thanks,
Dave

No real aero advantages (within the same brands), it really depends more on the length of your head tube (i.e. how far you want to be bent over when you're out of the aero position). The shorter the tube the more likely you'll want a flat wing. I'm sure some of the work intense bikers might have a more complete answer (and of course there's always the all-knowing google).

someone just posted this in my biking forum:

the goal of the flat wing is to put your hands on the brakes in a place that feels like being on the hoods of a regular road bike. the wings angled downward are to simulate the feel of being down in the drops. it's a personal thing; depends on the feel that you want when out of the aeros.

Sweet, I'm as smart as the guys in the biking forum (or at least that's what I'll tell myself so I can sleep at night).
