Let's get a list of BTers from Ontario! I'm interested in where you're from and what races you plan on doing whether they are run races in winter or tris/dus come summer. Hope to hear from everyone....

    Hi Everyone,

Do you know if all (or most) of the 2006 tri's are posted on the internet?  I have been able to check out some, but no set plans as of yet.  Do you know of any winter/indoor tris?  Pretty sure I'll do one or both of the Guelph tri's and  the Caledon tri.  I did that one last year and totally loved it, so I might do that it again.  Next race is going to be a 5k on Dec 31.  I think that in September, my aunt and I are doing something called Storm The Trent.  I believe it has biking, running and canoeing?!!?  Not totally sure though.  I'll let you know my schedule once I get it planned

Good to hear from you. The Subaru and Multisport series websites already have their 06 schedules posted with a couple 'new and fun' races. As far as indoor tris, I think the University of Guelph Tri club puts on a swim-run event (not sure though). I may do the Guelph Olympic in late June (I've done Guelph at least 12 times) and I may look at Caledon. I also know that the C3 group that puts on the Caledon race just announced they'll be putting on the Cdn National Tri Championships on July 1st weekend. This will also include age group races and both Simon Whitfield and Samantha McGlone have confirmed their participation. I am also looking at the Resolution 5K on Dec 31st - I like to start the year off right!

    Keep in touch!

I am in Toronto Beaches area.
Race plans are tentative as i am working toward my first IM in Austria on July 16, 2006

    likely races
    around the bay in March
    Muskoka in June
    Austria in July
Either Guelph II or the new Subaru race in Sherkston shores which sounds very interesting for the whole family - september.

For those who have kids racing i would also recommend the KOS in Cobourg, they run a good race and have a fallback pool in case lake ontario turns nasty.

All the best for racing in 2006

IM Austria - Awesome! I'd love to do that some day. As for Cobourg - what time of year? I have 12 yr-old twins (boy and girl) and I'm looking for a good race for them. I'm definitely doing Around the Bay and Muskoka - see you there. If I wasn't doing IM Wisconsin I'd do Sherkston.

Guelph II seems like a popular choice. Guelph Lake, it seems, has been a venue forever - I know I've done this race at least 12 times. When they changed the run course I knew that the last hill would be killer and IT IS!!

August 12 and 13 is the two day cobourg event, with the saturday being the kids of steel.

It is a good race for the kids and particularly fun to watch the 3 and 4 year olds giving it a tri.

Your schedule sounds full particularly with twins to keep you busy.

Hello I am new to Ontario, living in Ottawa, and really excited to be getting back into the Triathlon Scene.

My schedule is not laid out for the summer yet as I do not know where I will be when but I am working on it.

Any suggestions for Sprints early summer, Olympic distance later summer?

I am running the 5 Km Resolution Run in Ottawa on the 31st of Dec.

I am going to find some other 5 & 10 Km running races to pepper my season with, any suggestions, either on or off road?

Thanks for doing this Ironbubba it is a great idea.

    Leigh

Thanks for the help with race. Yes I will be racing for a spot to race at the world championships. Once the race is a little closer we should get all the Canadian BT'ers together.

New to this whole triathlon thing. That means I am excited.
There is a offroad sprint in London in May and the Bluewater Tri in July.
Those are my goals for the year so to speak.

Welcome!! Being excited is a great way to start out tri'ing.  There is lots of info on BT to help get you on the right path with your training and goals.  I'm still pretty new myself, but have found this website to be a huge help.  Good luck and let us know how things are going for you.

"Any suggestions for Sprints early summer, Olympic distance later summer?" ... Leigh Aris

Leigh, Somersault has some good tri's: their site is at www.somersault   Most of the triathlons that they have are in or around Ottawa.  They are all fairly well organized.  The Early Bird swim leg is done in the pool at Carleton and is more a trial of one's patience than a swim race.

May 20, sprint, Early Bird at Carleton

    June 26, sprint, Smith Falls

July 16, sprint, Graham Beazley, Carleton Place

Aug 5, sprint or olympic, National Capital

Aug 20, sprint or olympic, Thousand Island

Sept 2, sprint or 1/2IM, Canadian, Ottawa
