Was very warm could have done with fewer layers on but kept them on due to going on the bike and it being cold and windy!

Good race Paula. There might be some things you could try for the next one to make the 2nd run a bit easier. Try easing off on the bike just a bit, a km from the finish. Just enough so that it won't drastically affect your biking time. Better to lose a minute in the last km of the bike than to feel so cramped in the 2nd run that you lose 5 minutes there. Try standing on the pedals and stretching out your calves a bit. When you start your last run, go into it easy, at a pace that seems a bit slower than you think you want to run. Give yourself 5 minutes and then try increasing the pace a bit. Coming off the bike and feeling extremely wasted is probably the hardest thing to adjust to. Just treat the last minute of the bike leg as a cool down period.
