She hasn't posted in her blog for a week or so, and I'm starting to wonder if any Ohio folks can confirm that she's around and okay ...

I sent a pm to her several days ago - still hasn't been picked up.  I'm worried about her also - don't know what to do.

Some people have a life

yeah, marina has a life, and BT is a part of it. Hmm, she uses her BT log like a diary, it is odd to see so many white squares...

The account BT_TROLL has been deleted.

While this was a fairly innocuous instance, creating and using duplicate accounts to post anonymously will not be tolerated. It's a slippery slope that can degenerate very quickly.

Not much good can from an account that openly brags of being a troll.  That was pretty merciful of you, I've seen boards that delete all the accounts from an IP if it duplicates.

Aw, c'mon marmamikey. Let us play with the troll for a while. What's the fun in instantaneous deletion?

Maybe "Bt_Troll" was marina. After all, the troll account was kinda responding to the question "Anyone know where marina is?"

Why would someone want to go and create an account for something like that? You have something to say, say it! Why hide behind a fake name?  Losers.

Hope marina is ok.

Boy, a lot of freaking good you people are. You have the attention span of a 2 year old. I'm serious, here. I know she's trained/raced with some BT folks, and I think we need to check in on her.

Her profile says that her last logon was 12-15-2005 at 11:30 PM.  So she has been around.  It's a busy time of year which may explain the lack of posting.  We'll send out the posse next week and put the tracking collar on her so we can know where she is if she doesn't say something.

I agree.  She was on the grassy knoll with the second gunman.  She was actually holding the extra ammo.

Finally got an email from Marina.  She was in the hospital for a few days after her accident and will be going to visit her mom in Canada for a couple of weeks.  No other details, but it sounds like she's hanging in there. She's sorry she worried all of us.

Thanks for checking on me, guys.  Here’s the scoop…

I had a car crash on December 2 on I-90 near Erie, PA on my way to Hamilton, Ontario with my pup to see my brother play in the Vanier Cup. I guess I got rattled harder than I thought. I was in my Xterra and didn’t quite roll but somehow managed to land on both sides plus the front and the rear. I was okay at the time, shrugged it off, and told the trooper that I didn’t need the ambulance. The dog was fine to, thank goodness. So I spent the night in Erie and got a rental the next day to make it in time for the football game. That evening, although the brother didn’t win the championship, I drank more than I have in years. Of course, Sunday morning I was very hung over but made my home.

On Monday, since I still had a headache and felt like crap, I stayed home. I wasn’t sore anywhere except my head. I just thought that it was the alcohol. Work made me go to the doc to get cleared. On Tuesday, since I still had a headache and history of previous concussions, the doc made me go get a CT. Apparently it showed some swelling that they didn't like so I spent the night at the hospital. I took the rest of the week off lounging and doing nothing athletic.

Went back to work this past Monday but passed out at my desk (and I wasn’t drinking!!). Apparently, it was a seizure so I was carted back to the hospital. Everything looks fine now, but need to wait another few weeks before I play any contact sports.

Head injuries are frickin scary! Looks like all those years of ice hockey and downhill skiing are catching up with me J.

This week I’ll be headed home for the holidays and will start running again. I’m still gonna do the Rock n Roll Marathon in January, perhaps not at goal pace this time, but I’ll run it.

Thank you for caring about me. I’m feeling the love today!

Marina,

Thanks for the update.  Take care of yourself and get well.  There will always be plenty of races out there - don't push yourself too hard before you're 100% healthy.

Glad to hear you're OK Marina! If you want to push the marathon back, you could always join us in Tampa on Feb. 26th.

Glad to hear you are on the mend. Good luck and best wishes for a speedy recovery. After reading your log about the injury, OH MY! The higher power was on your side. And, your decision to wear your seatbelt was obviously a good one. Thank heavens.

Head injuries and athletes don't mix. They are a scary and uncertain thing....not only for the athlete but for the professional on the other end. When you decide to return to activity, make sure you are symptom free. I am always scared my athlete’s aren’t honest with me so that they practice or play. They don’t understand that they are more susceptible to further injury. For instance during the Texas vs. Tenn. BB game yesterday, a similar situation happened to one of the Texas players. He had been hit in the head early in the week on practice and during the game dropped to one knee as a result. Obviously, the powers that be felt he was OK and had been cleared to play. He did not receive another blow to the head only the normal contact expected. But that was enough to re-injury an injured brain. For being a very useful organ, the brain is very slow in responding to injury.

Please, take it easy, don’t rush in your return to activity and take exceptional care of yourself. I am sure you will and all will be well by Jan 15 but don’t be afraid to consider Max’s idea of running in Tampa in Feb. Best wishes and prayers.
