Copied this from an email from VA Happy Trails Running Club:

Just in case you had not seen this:  Yiannis KOUROS now 49 years old, set the world record for the 6 day race, running an amazing 648 miles!

For you math guys out there that is a steady 13min 20sec miles for 144 straight hours.  or 4.5mph.  So he ran 6 repeated 22:13 - 100 milers......plus!   He reportedly slept for 3 hours in those 6 days.

Geez  what a wimp...3 hours of sleep.

He did this the last week of November in Australia then flew to Texas for Sunmart.  Where he ran a pedestrian 7 hour something.

Amazing

I can't imagine only getting 3 hours sleep in 6 days, let alone running a century a day while doing it.

And absolutly horribly distructive to his body. More stupid than impressive to me.

I would complain about driving 648 miles in 6 days...let alone run them.

Whether stupid or not I think most people would agree that this is a remarkable or striking achievement which is a definition of "impressive".

Doing any endurance event could be characterized as dEstructive on the body, but proper training helps to minimize those effects. Most of us have probably heard people say that doing tris/IMs are stupid or crazy.

Very true.

Bradword-this guy is THE man in ultra running. Inhuman is more like it, his body is unbelieveable. He's been around for years, like Lance in cycling, what he does is unreal. For some reason his body lets him.

That's part of the allure.
