Subject: HELP! -Can't uplink my Polar
I just got a Polar RS200sd for Christmas and was so excited I actually used it today. I went to upload the info after I downloaded both weblink and uplink onto my computer but it doesn't seem to work...it says it works on the watch face...but nothing happens on the computer screen. Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong?

I'm not sure how this model works. Is this infra-red? On my S720i, I had to start the Polar software, press the button on the HRM to get ready to download the info to the computer, then click on the transfer icon in the computer program. A text box would appear showing the progress of the data transfer.

One weird thing to watch for if using infra-red is that it's possible to get interference from weird places. I had a desk lamp on top of my PC case right next to the infra-red reader. If I turned on the desk lamp, the illumination would interfere and I wouldn't get any data transfer. Once I turned the light off, all was fine. And this would happen with the HRM only an inch away from the data reader!

The RS200d uses SonicLink to communicate with your computer via the microphone.  The infrared communication is optional if you purchase the additional sensor.  Assuming that you are trying to use the SonicLink...you need to have a microphone hooked up and turned on (in the audio control panel) and the watch needs to be actively sending data...it will sound like a long series of chirps and clicks from the watch unit.  On my s520 I have to go to the "connect" menu and then hit the "start" button.  Before sending the data from the watch I need to have my Polar software open and tell it that I'm going to send data from the watch.  There is a choice in a drop-down to select SonicLink communication.  The software will start to listen for the watch and show a progress bar as it gets the data stream.  Not sure if any of this has changed in the last year but that's how I manage to transfer data to my computer.

I have the SonicLink and tried it with a microphone but I don't think it was set up in the control panel. I'll give it another try. Thanks for all your help

It's common for your microphone to be muted as the default.  There should be a little check box that you can clear out.

Yes, what TH3 said. Check the properties of your audio...I believe the microphone may also be called "Line In" and I think the default setting is "Mute" so you just need to un-check the box. Of course I'm not using WinXP, so maybe the latest versions are different. Still on an ancient system here!
