we'all should start thinkin' about a 2006  mid winter BT get-together!!!!!  It IS mid winter!!! only 2 more months till March and then means the beginning of Duathlons!! and the means Triathlons are only 2 months after that!!!!  (like the positve self talk??)
I am yearning for a fix!! A Mass. BT fix!!  I'm a thinkin' perhaps a "cycling break out session" at Max's!!! (like how I can volunteer someone else?? lol)  Biking tips, fix-it sessions, free trainer rides (bring your own trainer ), computrainer drooling, 2006 DU and TRI sched. meshing, hmmm....and perhaps ISIS could bring 'our' BT cooler and 'we' could fill it with 'gooood' stuff and enjoy some social time.

well, lets kick some ideas around, perhaps eliminate some dates and sketch in some others until things gel up......

I wouldn't mind that at all. I won't be around the first full week in Feb. but I should be around before and after that.

Sounds good to me. I can fit a few in my basement training room. If enough show up, I can clear out the 2-stall garage, fire up the propane heater for 30 minutes, move the TV/DVD out there and probably fit 10 trainers in that space. Bring the cooler, we'll arrange for something to eat. Laura (MaTriMom) had also put out some ideas too. After this weekend, we'll definitely get something planned and send out a few emails.

Ok, I am very tired so I have no details, but I am thinking the run to remember 1/2 mary or 5 mile in Boston in March for a good running goal. Helps me stay outside in the slop

I'm game for a Mid Winter Fest! I just need to know about what you guys plan for the following month by the 20th of the previous month.

Ex. If you are planning something in the month of Feb, I need to know by the 20th of January.

Of course I guess I could just take weekends off over the winter as well.

Newbies like me would be welcomed, I hope?  I'd like to meet some of the locals, esp. the POOLtriots in the Boston/Cambridge area.

NOT tri-related here, but I'm thinking of doing a BT group skiing.  Skied down Mt. Wachusett yesterday and now I understand how MAX felt when he was riding down the same mountain at > 50 mph on his bike.  Although I don't think I went down that fast.  I'm afraid of height and speed.

Anyways, one weekend later this month/early Feb?

I'd be up for this mid-winter fest, if my schedule allows. Thanks isis for cluing me in. Biking is one of my areas of concentration for this year, so the 'bike clinic' sounds great.

A meetup at a Boston race in March would be great, too! I am not a 1/2-mary person yet, but would be up for a 5-miler.

And skiing? That interests me too. I am mostly an XC person, but I wouldn't mind going to a mountain and taking a beginner downhill lesson. I'm a real klutz though.

Hope you enjoyed your shopping at WW -- didya buy a bike?!

Thanks for the welcome to the group!  I've marked this post for tracking any further developments in the mid-winter gathering, skiing, biking, running, etc. horizon.

Cheers, -Sunny

Oh yes, this sounds like a great idea. I fell off of the MASS BT email chain when I switched jobs from Fidelity. If there are still emails going on can someone forward me the next one? [email protected]

Go Pooltriots! Jan Swim Challenge is on!

AHHH Thanks for kicking my *** in my log today Jo! I almost forgot I had to put in for my schedule in February........OK I will BID for weekends off in February if we all wanna get together. For the I'm in the mood for Running in the hideously disgusting weather, there is a Maine 10-miler on Feb 5th.

On Feb 18th, there's the Martha's Vineyard 20-miler. I haven't been to the Vineyard in EONS and would love to go. Been eyeing it for a while, never followed up on ferry skeds or accommodations either. I'm not planning a stand-alone marathon until the end of May, but for whoever would like to do the MV20, I'd join ya (albeit slowly).

There is also Hyannis again! Hyannis Half or 10K?

All other weekends, I can meet up for indoor biking, swimming (shoulder permitting) or whatever.

My schedule is always awarded by seniority, and I'm not the most senior, so there is the slight chance I won't get what I want. I'll know what my fate is by the 21st or 22nd for February.....

I'm lookin' to do the Boston Run to Remember half-mary on March 12....

Max -- I'm still up for bike maintenance 101 combined with a trainer ride... weekend afternoons tend to be good for me...

I'm ready any time. This Sunday and all next weekend is good for me. Anyone want to try some sort of a mass trainer ride? Most convenient location? I have a chilly garage that can be warmed up to a certain extent. Also I can drag a TV and DVD player out there pretty easily. We could do it January 28th? If the weather is nice, and the roads aren't too sloppy, a run would be possible too. Endless options!

I would love to do something like this. The only problem is I don't own a trainer and I'm pretty busy until I get back from the Dominican Republic on Feb. 12th. Very excited about the trip!

As for location, as long as it's not more than an hour outside of Boston I would be fine.

On a side note, my girlfriend and I are doing the Run to Remember Half Mary. It should be a fun day.

I wish I could, I wish I could, but family stuff will keep me from a group ride or run right now.

Okay, DK, Joe, Max, Glen .... I wanna come home!

Well, I need to come home for other stuff but would love the op to meet the home team (as opposed to the 'home for now' team).

I just looked at Run to Remember and I'd like to give the half a shot.  I like the trainer thing, but don't want to haul my bike.

Let me know what you all are planning, if you don't mind?  Smile
