Comments:

This was a fun run. Noone was taking it very seriously, so the mood was nice and light. Ran with Darren pretty much the whole way. It was strange stopping for red lights, and I blew out my shoelace after mile 1, so I did fairly well, considering.
We didn't really run all that hard. I kept looking for all the people that were supposed to be in front of us and found hardly anyone. When we came off mile 4, some guy at the turn said to us "14 and 15", which we finally figured out was what PLACE we were in. Wow! Let's pick it up a bit... right up to the red light. That was fun. There was a little pack of 6 of us waiting at this light with 1/2 a mile to go... Green, gone!
Unfortunately, my legs ran out of gas at the very end and I got passed by a couple of guys, but I had already passed a few before that. Finished with a big cheesy smile on my face and went for some delicious cinnimin buns and Timmy's coffee, all supplied by the Running Room.

What would you do differently?:

Try a little harder at the end. Double knot my shoelace.
Post race
Warm down:

Ate, drank coffee, chatted up the ladies.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Footing was brutal. Traffic. Dead legs.

Event comments:

Great race. They gave everyone their Running Room pace watch, a $50 value for my $40 early bird entry fee is pretty sweet in my opinion. The food was light and tasty, and most importantly, there was Timmy's!

Juan Valdez has nothing on Timmy's coffee.  And cinnamon buns are my middle name.  For real.

Nice run, great way to kick off the new year!!!  Where's the chatting up report, huh?

I did the resolution run here in Guelph.. the 5km, not the 10km.  Good run.. fun run.. very snowy and icy/slippery in spots.  Didn't get stuck at any red lights like Shrike though.  Nice warm soup afterwards.  Have to say the best moment was watching my mom cross the finish line, near tears with exitement and pride.  She had never done anything like this before and up until she crossed the finish line, she never thought she could.  YAY FOR MOM!!  I'm very proud of her.
