I am a 27 year old from Upstate NY near Albany. I just returned from St. Croix where I watched part of the Half-Ironman, and it has inspired me to begin training. I am in relatively good shape, although I could stand to lose a few pounds. I am an avid runner, I have biked a lot in the past, and have never swam a lap before in my life until this week. Luckily my wife was a national swimmer in college and is now a swim coach. So wish me luck in my endeavors and I hope to get to know many of you over time. Hopefully we can all give each other support when we cannot face another 10 mile run!!

Wow--I guess most of us wish we had a swim coach in our pocket!! Do you have to pay her???!? :-)

If yes, she's probably worth it, and if no--you better be bringing the woman some flowers and chocolates!!

Welcome, Ryan. Good to have you here.

Welcome to the site! Good to have you. That would be sooo cool to have a personal (and free?) swim coach! Lucky you! Good luck with your training!

Yeah, I have the feeling that she will be my biggest asset.

Got the jewelry thing covered while in St. Croix (which was absolutely beautiful!). As for flowers ... every Friday.

Thanks for the welcome!

Doesn't sound like you need anyone to wish you good luck - you've already had quite a bit, especially that swim coach!  Oh, what a benefit that would be . . .

Well, good luck anyway, and welcome to the site.  Hopefully, you will become as addicted as we are.
